Hi,
After looking for ages to find livery yards in Essex, I've found the following yards that fit what I'm looking for.
Any opinions and experiences about the following yards would be appreciated :)

Attridges Equestrian
Tiptree Equestrian
Middlewick Farm Livery
GATES Equestrian
Hazeleigh Barn Livery
Norton Heath
Threshers Equestrian Livery
Crokleford Stud

Thanks,

Crockleford's near me, nice yard, very expensive by all accounts, lovely stables, big fields and hacking. Also nice sized manege. Only do full/part livery I think.

GATES, heard mixed reviews, often see them out at shows. Lots on offer, inc manege, solarium, nice stables/fields. Offer a range of Livery options. Not been to either so can't say more than that.

The only one I've had any experience with is Crockleford, and its lovely there.
Great hacking, and huge floodlit school with a good surface. I used to hire it a lot when I kept my neds just around the corner.

Norton Heath is a big and busy competition venue. As far as I'm aware there isn't an arena for liverys only so you'd be sharing the warm ups at weekends, unless you wanted to always compete. Cafe is great :-)

Red30563 - I can't pm you back as I'm on my phone at the mo. The yard sounds fantastic with brilliant facilities however I'm under 21 so unfortunately the age is a deal beaker :(

Qru, just puzzled that the yards you are interested are quite far apart, wasn't sure if you realised as you said you are out of the country. What area will you be located in? Perhaps people will be able to advise better on the yards that you mention that are closer. Also what are you looking for as quite often you can only find out about some of the nicer yards by word of mouth.

Hiya,
we don't have a specific area really, I'll be doing a university course at a college in chelmsford, but don't mind living 40 mins away. Would rather be 10 mins away from a nice yard and 40 mins away from college than the other way around! I'm hoping to visit soon to see them all personally then can decide which area to be in :o
I'm looking for a yard that does part or full livery, an indoor arena would be lovely but its not necessary, all year turnout preferably 24 hours a day weather permitting ofc & thats about it really :)

I would have thought that gates and possibly crockelford may be a bit far away. Stratford hills although on the way to Ipswich is very close to the A12 or Colchester garrison saddle club, they have a small indoor school, 2 outdoor menages and lovely hacking both have websites but cgs only have info on riding school.
