Well this is the horse that was mentioned on the thread where the woman wasn't in contact, since found out she changed phones so she said he is still available. So just wondering what you all thought of him? He is 3 years old 16.2, Dutch warmblood x ISH. Sire is vivaldi iv. Lovely natured boy ! Hasn't had much done with him.

Urgh, nothing unless they get some condition on him. Shame though as looks as though he could be very nice.
 
I wonder why his condition is so poor?

The front doesn't really match the back but that may be the photos combined with the lack of muscle.
 
I like him - he has a lot of growing up to do but WBs are slow growers - nicely bred I really like him I would say in the current market between £3 and £4k

I think so. May be just me but I think if you look at its shoulder etc and lack of any tissue that this is almost a welfare case.
 
Bit of a harsh comment scarymare! He is a little lean but nothing drastic,he is young and growing so I'd rather see him like this than too fat. I think he looks quite nice, a bit upright through the pasterns, maybe a bit restricted in shoulder but could just be the angle of the photos. Video isn't working for me so can't comment on that. I like his unusual colouring (I know that isn't a reason to buy a horse though!). What do you plan to do with him? I would definately get a vet to check him over if you did decide to have him.
 
Also he's a young big lad most likely going through a growth spurt. He's normal! Everyone is so used to over fed and over muscled youngsters these days

I agree - pics aren't great. But don't like limbs.

However, I agree that there is something rather attractive about him.

Who did you take with you to view and what were there thoughts???

Dito the lackof condition. Although i quite like him and see some potential. What do they ssy about his condition?

I wouldnt want to say a price as im crap at that sort of thing. What are they asking if you dont mind saying?
 
OP do you like him? Can you see him being the right horse for you? Does he give you a good feeling?
I would say that the answers to these questions are much more important than what a bunch of Internet weirdies (& I do class myself under this umbrella ;) ) think.
Pricewise I wouldn't be going over £1500 for any unbacked youngster, no matter how well bred, in the current climate.

He has really kind face and the top pic gives you an idea of what he will be like with some condition on. I like him but I wonder how he is so ribby just coming out of the summer. If you are prepared to feed him up then I bet he would be lovely. Have no idea about pricing so will leave that to the experts.

Actually i agree wholehartedly with glamourpuss. Who are we to say tbh. (I'm under that umbrella with you lol).

If you feel he's worth a punt and the price is right then go for it.
 
I must be seeing something different to other people. I'd say his condition is fine - you certainly don't want fat young horses.
He could be behind at the knee, but that could be a trick of the camera. If he were I wouldn't touch him.
He is very uphill in his conformation with a short neck. You will find him a strong and athletic horse, should really have a jump. Is also likely to be able to spin and set his neck against you so not a particularly easy horse to ride.

Yes, he's leaner than I would keep but looking at his mane length etc it does look like he's just been out in the field being a horse - which is always nice to see. With a bit of management I'm sure he will fill his shape a little more :)

Agree with this. My boy looks really filled out and then then suddenly he looks really skinny and you realise he has gone upwards. A couple of days later the weight is back on and then it starts again. Agreed, not a good photo of his condition but it could have been on one of those "upward" days and its not that bad really. Also, in the lungeing photo he is bent that way so that could be why you can see his ribs like that.

Looks fine as a 2 year old though from what you can see.
 
I'm with Adorable Alice - the front legs worry me, especially the near fore from the first pic. Also looks to have very straight hindlegs. I'd like to see him on better going - he looks from the pic (vid doesn't work btw) to move like a ballerina - straight upwards, twiddle legs in air, then land in the same place.

Can you try again with the vid?

Me too my last foal looked like this until she was four the more you feed the more she grew .
I would much rather by a youngster looking like that than a fat one I hate fat youngsters would struggle to buy one you risk buying a lot of trouble.
It's probally having a growth spurt that's all.
I would need to have a better look at the legs to decide if I really liked him but the wieght I would not give it a second thought.

Do you have any side on conformation shots?

If his forelimb conformation is the same in real life as it looks in that picture, then I wouldn't want him myself.

If it is just a trick of the angle, he is a lovely looking young horse (although slightly straight through his hindlegs too) and I'd expect to pay anywhere between £2k-4k depending on the damline's breeding and performance.
 
I don't mind them light as long as vits and mins have been balanced with forage. You do need protein for building muscle to but it's an accumulation of things fed and does not have to be from high protein high carb food.

Before I ever look at the front, I assess the hind end. This is where your power comes from. Hard to tell from the angle but he is huntery bumpish looking with a very steep angle to the point of butt. I'm not crazy about this line with his pelvis. So for me not personally, I wouldn't be overly keen. He's slightly longer in the back which just means a big more time strengthening the back. But nice to have a strong hind end to back that up. Can't tell about front legs really from the pic.

But here's the thing, if great conformation gauranteed soundness and longevity this would be an easy game. It doesn't but you just need to take on board things you may have to take more time with.

Also, this horse is just immature and youngsters change so quick. I wouldn't be so quick to assume people haven't done a good job with this baby. At least he isn't obese. My 2 coming 3 has gone from butterball compact chunk to lengthening and finally getting a nicer neck. Less Ponyish shall we say. It's really ok for babies to go through stages. I had to pull a yearling out of a sale despite being fed for it and conditioned he just went through a 3 week period of Oh my Gawd, what are you! So probably a bad baby time and nothing more.

He looks like an lovely unspoilt baby to me. I like to see them given their own time to grow and develop - much healthier long term than an equine "hothouse flower".
If you aren't intending to show him, then slightly less than perfect conformation is acceptable, I would think, especially when he hasn't been produced to look mature.
But your opinion of him is the one that matters. :)

I would defo agree he is needing a good feed although I'd rather that than needing him to loose weight! I love him if I'm honest. He has the nicest temperament but I would not this want this to make me not notice anything obviously wrong with him, which is why I asked for opinions. I took my experienced friend with me and she loved him too.
I would be looking to do low level eventing, and take him to the level to go to. I'm on my phone so can't rely properly but wil when I'm home :)
 
Would like to add he is very much been left to mature naturally, hasn't had too much done with him so explains a bit why he looks a bit scruffy.
