I had my horse's shoes removed nearly a month ago, and I am waiting on a trimmer to come and trim and advise me which hoof boots for her.

However, my horse has been on what I consider a foot friendly diet for over a year now but has recently refused to take her supplements in the fast fibre.

So I have now changed to the best I could find over here (southern Ireland) that might tempt her (fussy madam!) Your comments and suggestions would be great.

Very good doer, out at restricted strip grazing 24/7. Occasional slice or 2 of hay if they all look a bit hungry. Now on winter grazing, sparse un-fertilised old mixed grass. Quarter a scoop of soaked speedi beet, 3/4s scoop Bluegrass garlic chaff - to which I add 40g calmag, 1 tsp super biotin, 20g brewers yeast, and for the last month about 1/4 cup of linseed oil ( I am waiting on micronised linseed to arrive from the UK.)

She is also, unfortunately, a sweet itch sufferer, so the supplements I have her on are aimed at both feet and skin.....I think! Do you think it would be of benefit to add salt to her diet, if so how much would be appropriate?

Thank you.

Sounds like a pretty good diet! Personally I wouldn't add salt, but give her access to a good quality Himalayian salt lick and if she needs it she'll help herself.

Hopefully the micronised linseed will help to tempt her - my boy will eat anything provided he has microniseed with it.

Also, if you get stuck in tempting the fussy madam Spiller's high fibre cubes are barefoot friendly and seem to be extremely palatable.

I also find yea sacc to be great for feet as it supports hind gut function - it's pretty palatable too. I feed it as well as brewer's yeast as they do slightly different things.
