an appetising mix of meat, cooked peas, steam cooked flaked cereals and crunchy biscuits all coated in wheat glucose syrup which gives the food added natural flavour and a distinctive texture.

And........
Protein pellets containing beef meat meal,
extruded wholewheat biscuits, cooked flaked maize, wheat glucose syrup, baked wholewheat biscuits, cooked flaked peas, cooked wheatflakes, oils,
vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

Pretty typical muesli type (dog) food.
Not something I'd feed mine but they do seem to suit some dustbin type gundogs.
Possibly the indigestible parts stop the dog putting on too much weight when they eat enough to feel full?

Skinners ruff & ready perhaps?

I don't feed any muesli feeds if I can help it as I've never found a dog be upset by upgrading to a decent ( or half decent) expanded feed.

Close. Skinners muesli mix. I posted the ingredients for someone who asked and someone else who feeds it defended it (other forum). I was surprised because the glucose coated thing is like feeding sugary cereal.

I'm mid read of a debate between two people about the use of carbs in dog food. It's very interesting: they're going into depth about high glycemic indexes.

Found a lamb elastrator band in a sack of CobbyDog once, the company failed to explain how it could have got ther though!

Hi

Iv been feeding Cobbydog for years. My 6 dogs always lick their bowls clean. They have great shiny glossy coats, strong teeth and people are always commenting on how healthy they look.

I have been feeding the Suprme Chunks and Country Delight.

My dogs are a picture of health and i would recommend Cobbydog to you all.

:)

Advert, APPY MIN?!

Here's the ingredients for the complete food:

Dried meat, poultry meal, meat meal and meat derivatives are included in our complete dry dog food.

Cereals, wheat, maize are included in our complete dry dog foods too. They are changed into glucose and are the easiest source of fuel for your dog’s body to use.

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

where is this debate happening. I am trying to make up my mind about what's best. I want to feed natural and buy chicken, heart etc and cook it likely. vet nurse said that they can't get all the vits and minerals from that though.
Would be interested to read what is said in your debate. Thanks x

Sunny Delight, Coco Pops etc, are 'fortified with vitamins and minerals' look at the back of the packets, WHAT vitamins and minerals are in these foods...and what of any actual nutrional value is in it...it's just a sales pitch IMO. I can't see why on earth feeding cereals is better for a dog and provides more 'vitamins and minerals' than the food they were designed to eat.

As mentioned in another thread, before Winalot came along our dogs were fed on raw tripe and whatever we hadn't finished off our dinner plates. They did not keel over for lack of vitamins and minerals.

I bought 20 massive chicken carasses, a bag of whole minced chicken and a bag of minced hearts for £12 the other day, it will feed my dog for at least a month...what on earth food of that quality could you buy from the vets/pet shop?

Not getting at you CMM, just bored of sales pitches :p

no i know cc, the whole thing is so confusing. i just want to do the right thing by tess who hasn't had the best start. she is wolfing down the chicken etc. i have been putting a wee bit of mixer in just to cover the bases lol. can't do raw so need whatever is the closest second. where did you buy all that at that price. have you got an abbatoir somewhere close.
years ago i had a friend who was the manager of one and i used to get a big bag of offcuts, cheeks and offal plus some better cuts. the dogs went mad for it. i used to cook it in a big galvanised bucket. they lived to a ripe old age.

You can get frozen chicken etc from here: http://www.oneclickpharmacy.co.uk/p...meats-chicken-400g-p-130743.html?currency=GBP

And also this looks a good food: http://www.activepetfeeds.co.uk/index.php

CMM, I started on Natural Instinct tubs and their pre-packed bones and Prize Choice frozen blocks and then was given a contact for a man who supplies the greyhound tracks so I just go to him...it's the real deal, I was there on delivery day last week, the tripe comes in fresh, the chickens are human grade and come in fresh and go straight in the mincer, it's great quality stuff. He also sells all sorts of dry foods that you cannot get in the mainstream shops around here, like Autarky.

I am not sure how you feel about greyhound racing but if I were looking to source cheap, quality raw meat and you don't have access to a slaughterhouse/factory I would look to a greyhound track for contacts.

One thing I would say is don't feed raw and dry in the same meal, it can lead to impaction as the food travels through the gut at different rates. Mixer is just a filler really, if you are feeding meat and bones, you shouldn't need it.

Debate was ages ago, different forum. I'll see if I can find it again.
