He's not really 'my type' but I do like him and am surprised that he hasn't been sold. How big is he and whats his breeding? I'm not really good on this but I'd pay about £3K for him, as he needs bringing on, but he's only a baby so wouldn't expect him to have done much.

I think those estimates are about what I would say. He sounds an ideal type of horse for a keen teenager and a happy hacker mother, has your friend emphasised that in her advertisements?

he looks and sounds a genuine horse..perhaps your price is a bit high....have you considered asking a bit lower? or try throwing in some tack, rugs etc...post more pics, if they are the only pictures you have up then i would put more, that none of them really show his confo and way of going.

He is a cob and 14.3,he was placed 2nd in his 1st ever ridden show cob class(was his first ever show actually about 2month ago, lol),you would not believe what this little guy has achieved in 4months

I think he's lovely. But at 14.3 I wouldn't pay more than £2500 including tack.

[/ QUOTE ]
He is lovely, and i appreciate what you are saying but he is worth more than 2.5K with tack....purely on the basis he has got a 2nd in his 1st ever ridden show class, not a little show by any means, and if you were to see him working in the school, for a cob he moves very well and carrys himself well also, and he has got a pop in him
smile.gif

O.K. So he's been placed 2nd on 1st ever ridden show class. Where else was he placed at all the others? Any 1st's? If so advertise him at the shows. People seeing him doing so well surely then someone will make an offer?

I wasn't being rude when I said £2500 but you see you know him. I on the other hand do not. If he is doing so well why does your friend want to sell him. Sorry I'm always suspicious when people are selling horses I think it comes of tooooo many wasted journeys to look at horses that are not what has been claimed lol. Sorry

if your friend wont except dropping the price for him try taking him off the market for awhile get some more shows and hopefully red ribbons under his belt. take some really nice pics with ribbons/sashes on, then re-advertise him as a show cob in to the showing circuit. anyway chances are someone will see him at a show and buy him.

lol,understand what you are saying!
I too would be suspicious....however he was bought to sell on,never been to shows etc 5months ago,you would not believe what this little guy is achieving...think coz he loves his work he tries his little butt off, lol!!
I too understand you wasnt being rude, and yes i know this guy...think we need some better ridden pics dont we??

I really like him as a little honest allrounder type - I wouldn't market him as a show cob though - from photo shown, which is a little dark I admit, he hasn't got the best a*** end or hind leg - not trying to be insulting b.t.w. just half of the battle when advertising is to aim the ad at the right section of the market - mother/daughter share maybe?
Price wise £3,500 maybe? Unfortunately seems to be a buyer's market at the moment.

I think he's lovely. I've also seen your friends advert, I think. 14.3hh's are always cheaper because they are very in betweeny. I think about £3500.

I personally wouldnt aim him as a show cob, but if you are you need more results than one show. Was it county level? or local?

If he was a top class show cob you would get very good money £6000+ but without being nasty, he is more a alrounder. and mid height

Horses are selling at the moment, but at the right price, i dont mean cheap. but he is only worth what someone is willing to pay for him, if you have had no interest, i would sugest he is overpriced

He looks a real nice stamp of horse and if he is a genuine type and safe the price is usually higher as there are not many about.
You say he has already been advertised and not sold. Where are you advertising him and for how much. Do you have some good pics on the advert?
smile.gif

Think you may be right, the ridden showing was really to get him out and about,he loves the jumping and think mother and daughter may be the way to go,photos are not the best admittedly, think i may have to get the camera out again, lol!!
Thanx for all your input
smile.gif

sorry, if I saw an ad for him at 3500 I would think him overpriced. the ribbon could have been from a tiny RC or local show as far as I know and he needs more under his belt for that sort on money. still, that's obviously mainly just my opinion. a fair price to me would be say 2750 and I would pay at top, 2500.
