She is the advert on the homepage of coloured horses- "by Masterclass 3 year old filly".
We phoned up about her last night, she is standing at 15hh now and should make 15.2hh, only just 3. Apparently has a lovely nature, and before we mentioned what we might want her for she said, "she is an absolute stamp of an eventer".

Idea would be to focus on the groundwork etc, get her to some inhand shows and do some lunging/long reining, back her during the summer and then turn her out for the winter until next year when we will bring her back into work and aim her at 4yo BE classes.

What do you think of her? Confo? Price? Breeding?
We haven't arranged to see her yet as mum had to speak to dad, but after talking to him and showing him the advert he was even more keen than mum so we are phoning back tonight to arrange a viewing hopefully

Thanks

She is very cute! I like, but then we all know I have a soft spot for coloureds

Only slight criticism is she looks very slightly weak in the hind leg, but with some muscle that would improve. Price is fine IMO

yes she looks lovely and a good price, my only criticism is that she has a slightly short neck.

Also there is no guarantee that she will make another 2 inches in height; I bought a 3 year old that didn't make any more height at all but filled out tons.....

I'll add to the warning about height if she's GOT to get bigger for you.

My beautiful little AA mare was 15hh when I bought her at rising 4. She's still 15hh at 8.

No she hasn't got to get bigger, I am only 5"4ft anyway and my mum will also ride her and wants something she can get on/off easily (shes 5"3ft and not very athletic anymore!

).

Does anyone know much about her sire, Masterpiece?

The fetlock joints (behind) look like little golf balls. Too round for me. Plus she's very fat, so putting even more strain on them.

She looks quite light of bone for her frame. She is also shorty of front- short neck and upright in the shoulder.

her shoulder is quite straight if you look beyond the markings.

hindleg is a touch straight.

i agree that i doubt she will get to 15.2hh but as you've said thats not an issue (but would affect future price).

you should be able to get a bit off the price as she has been on there for a long time now.

Hi, I think she's lovely, very like her daddy whom I have seen at the BSPA Championships a couple of times and he had a lovely temperament. We were going to put out mare to him. As fot the price as someone said I am sure you could get a few hundred off and really you are buying at a great time - Masterpiece's yearlings usually make around the 3000.00 mark and as he is no more ( v sad hadn't realised that) she is valuable progeny! Good Luck! and let us know!!

I’m not keen on her confirmation, starting with the front legs, from the shoulder down, so didn’t really carry on looking at the rest, seems a nice filly to look at but not something I would consider if I was looking to buy a horse to event.

I'd prefer something a bit more rangey looking at that age as well.

She's fab, very nice sort IMO, nicely put together should grow a bit more, look very with it and smart and anything with Master Spiritus in it's pedigree as far as I'm concerned is SOLD

Master Spiritus line is good and they can certainly jump and are very bold, the price is very reasonable too.

Thank you all for the opinions

I think we will go and see her, have a look at her legs (if we were to buy her we would get her vetted) in person as you can never tell with pics.
I'm really excited

i dont think she looks an eventing stamp, although she is over weight.
her neck does look short but the photo angle is probably making it worse...
hind legs look weak but she is only 3....
id buy her as an allrounder...

She looks more like a show horse than eventer to me! I too would be looking for something more leggy. See how she moves and covers the ground

I used to ride her sire, Masterpiece. Didn't realise he had been PTS actually, very sad.

Anyway, he was a lovely horse, perfectly mannered, a lovely ride and was generally very easy to be around, I would be very interested in anything sired by him because he was so lovely.

Despite being not that big himself, he always seemed to sire enormous offsring, most ending up 16hh plus, so I think the height suggested is feasible. He also puts a wonderful neck on them.

Tbh, I think that she is just lovely, and would definitely go for a closer look. A few people have mentioned that she is quite light in her bone, but so was her Daddy and he was a showring superstar!

One other thing to mention, he was not homozygous, so her colour will have been pot luck, so if you choose to breed from her, she may not throw a coloured foal. You would need to see her mother's breeding to find out more...
