Opinions on this horse...

Lovely conformation. Just the stamp I like. Looked like a nice ride too. Nice paces, if I'm being really critical (as a dressage person) he doesn't track up in walk - but may just be the way he's ridden in the clip. Good canter though. Didn't look particularly athletic over a fence - but I guess it depends what you want to do with him.

But overall a lovely stamp of a horse in my opinion.

He looks like a nice chap and genuine etc but nothing exciting....... I think he is expensive too!! Guess it depends what you are looking for.....if you just want something reliable and safe then he would be a good choice!! Good luck with what you decide! :)

Also noticed he was not tracking up and would be suspicious that vid showed lots of trot , a little canter but the transition between the two was cut!

In all honesty? I think he is a sweet looking horse but he has very incorrect movement, not this could partly because he has only just been started and is still very green or it could be the starting of something.

He is in a false outline, he is trying to hold his head in that position, and is not following through from behind. I didn't see him tracking up in any of the video, apart from when they were trotting him up and he was spooked. He looks a bit stiff in his back end.

I would also worry why you don't see him going into canter on either rein and then she keeps off his back the whole time. Jumping doesn't look to have a lot of scope but again most of this could be because he is green. He probably would be worth a visit as the video might not do him justice.

My 6 year old ID has had almighty problems and has pretty much been on box rest from 4 years old with OCD in his stifles (had operations on both) and collateral ligament damage to both front coffin joints, and he moves better than this horse. Before he had his first injury he had only been backed for 6 months.

I do like him but...

Not sure what he was being ridden in - some kind of draw-rein. She also did not sit on his back when he cantered - was she doing that on purpose because he has a cold back?

He looked nice and calm and honest but forward going too.

Looked like a large dealership??

Possibly a bit over-priced - I would certainly put in an offer for £2.5K and go up from there to £3K max.

Good luck!

Nice(ish) - ridden terribly, which is unfortunate, and the draw reins are preventing him from moving properly. Terrible dish on near side fore....... and a bit straight in the hocks.

Mmmm - if he's around the corner could be worth a look - but any more than 20mins away and personally I wouldn't bother.

I think he's expensive too.

He looks a nice horse but doesn't look happy in the way he's being ridden. His ears aren't in a happy place and he looks 'held in place'. This wont be helping him show his true paces and hence him not tracking up properly. Maybe the rider's fault. Worth a look if he's not too far from you.

I like the look of him and think he looks like a comfortable and genuine ride. To be honest, I don't think he looks like a bad price at all if he is true to description. The basics seem to be there and he looks to be a nice sort. :)

Feel free to disregard what I just said on the basis that I'm just a happy hacker who has lessons (but I do look at horses for sale obsessively!). :p

I could not agree more, it may be fairly simple like he is out in his back but something is not right. even on the photo you can see he is in a false outline. very stiff in the hind legs and making up for it in the front.

Thank you all so much for your feedback, you've been very helpful, I think I will opt for the sensible thing and bide my time for another few months. Thanks again everyone.

Good decision I think!
I_h

He has a very low set tail and is not tracking up, the main reason for this would be due to the fact he is in a pir of draw reins and not be ridden forward to them from the leg. I would like to see him without draw reins and allowed to go forward before assessing.

Hmmm yes she doesn't like to ride with her seat does she !! She'd prob get a better tune out of him if she did.

Like others have said - he is very stiff behind. not sure why anyone would ride in a schooling contraption for an advert it doesn't show the true horse at all !

Good luck in your search

PS - It is a bit of a shame as he is called Nelson which is our Surname ! I had high hopes lol

I am afraid a lot of the above really. He is a sort I like too and I'm looking for one for my OH at the minute so had a good look. BUT I thought all of the above and given I had one almost identical a few years ago that the vet was willing to declare LOU for due to arthritic changes (at age 7. ) I am really wary about action in this stamp.

He looks like a nice horse - would look even better with a different rider I feel though.

"Over a poll?" What does that mean :p

I also think he is overpriced for what he is. I would think £2000 - £2500 would be a better price.
