Opinions on this horse?

Oooof what a beauty. I have no other comment than that really, the pictures don't really show a great deal :( he looks quite green in the vid and pretty strong into those fences but he has a nice big movement.... Someone with more experience will be along shortly :) he does look like a lovely big lad, picture of health :)

The word 'Kent' strikes fear into my heart though!

Bit of head turner isn't he? Just want initial reaction before investigating further. I know we are based in Kent so looking locally ish but I know the rep of Kent is bad in some cases. Known some crackers from Kent though so I guess it's hit and miss!

Yes, looking for a good solid all rounder with the view to event and do some hunting, my kind of horse at any rate!

Kent isn't all bad, promise! :o

Looks jolly nice in the still pics, seems quite strong in the open field, a keen jumper, is your jockey going to be able to keep him together? Lots of fun to be had with this horse if he has not physical problems. I have no idea about dealers so can't comment on them but if i was big and strong and looking for a nice promising young horse i'd go for a look anyway, especially if i was local.

Nice stamp, looks like he takes a bit of holding together, doesn't use his shoulders brilliantly.
Definitely suitable as the all round event/hunt type.
How much is he? That is the crunch question, I don't like him enough to say worth more than 6 ish

Nice type of horse, but his approach to the first fence on the video was rather wavering and I wonder whether with a less assertive rider he would duck out.

Might be a good project for a strong rider who could build his confidence up, but might prove to be a stopper when faced with unfamiliar courses with a slightly weak/nervous/inexperienced rider.

Yes I agree and he still looks green into fences which I would expect from a big young horse, rider would be experienced, confident etc..

There is a hell of a lot to like there, really like his movement, he's got a nice jump despite being a bit green, seems to enjoy his work, beautiful looking, nice build, I really like that type of horse.

Well - I know NOTHING of these dealers - so tried a bit of digging.

I wonder why - on their own website - it is only first names! (Makes it harder to Google for dirt - if there is any.) But I found a surname from her You Tube profile and couldn't find any!

Mind you, there's nothing on the website - or in her ads - to say WHERE in Kent she is - but searcing her mobile number shows ads in the Dartford section of a horses for sale listing - now who do we know who sells horses in Dartford - and moves them around??

The horse is supposed to be an Irish Draught - and he looks like one. So why not mention his breeding? It may be good, or ordinary, or maybe he's just an ID 'type'.

If he's so easy, why is he shown variously in a pelham, or with rings? A properly started green youngster shouldn't need either. He's allegedly placed in showing classes in Ireland - where?? There are some details missing which you would expect to see on the seller's website, even if not in an ad.

Here's a xc video of him taken a month ago - I'd say he's being asked quite a bit for a horse whose balance ain't great - but he's bold.

He could be 100% genuine - but it's always smart to have a suspicious head on when looking in dealers' yards!

That xc video JG posted is taken at East Bysshe which is between Godstone and East Grinstead, both of which are a fare way west of Kent - seems a long way to travel to hire an xc course.

I like the horse but to me it seems he is being ridden calmly yet quite positively forward by both riders, not sure he'd appear as bold with a less experienced / weaker rider on board.

I think he looks a nice sort albeit green looking but to be expected at 5. I think he will need an experienced rider because he's quite a big horse and he's young so will need firm but subtle handling. Worth a look though if your friend is a decent rider. If she's particularly looking for an ID, might be worth asking JG if she's got anything for sale.

My mare took quite a while to mature (not sure if that's IDs generally) and she tested me at times. I did think about selling her a couple of times but the end result was well worth the time and effort.

When I bought my ID mare as a 6yo old she wasn't advertised as an ID because person selling didn't think she looked like one  First thing I said when I saw her was 'is she ID' She looked similar in build to this chap only smaller (just 16hh) and be warned she was dapple grey then and now she's almost white :D

She was eligible for RID so took her up for grading and she passed at 8 :)
