Opinions on this little mare

Thank you very much :-), have you called yet? No harm in calling and getting some more info and then go and see it.. Photo's really don't tell you much :) x

Says on the sellers youtube, that she is pigeon toed which will explain the price.

If she is by the stallion rhino posted a link to she is being sold for a loss as his fee is £400 according to that page and it costs far more the £200 to raise a foal to three and a bit years. Also at what appears quite a small 15hh she is tiny in comparison to her sire's 16.3hh, especially when her mother is a tb.

The video is interesting. She seems quite bold and appears to know the basics. But she doesn't have the best of paces and jumping doesn't seem to come that naturally(she doesn't look comfy going over the fences imo).

If you are interested in her give them a call ask some questions and if you still like the sounds go and have a look :)

I am astonished about the knabstrupper reference. Knabstruppers are NOT allowed to have sparse manes and tails - this is the domain of the appaloosa. As is the white sclera around the eye. SpottyTB I would put money (unless you have papers) that your horse has absolutely no knabstrupper and plenty of appaloosa in the breeding! And looks a very nice type as well :)

My knab has both these and is again part bred knab, her dad is Faust at emyluaard and I have all the paperwork to prove it so I'm not sure this is totally accurate.

OP I thnk she is lovely I saw her advert recently and if I hadn't just bought I would have bought her by now!

I had appaloosas for many years and the breed characteristics are totally different to those of the knabstrupper.

If you check out the knabstrupper characteristics, if a stallion has a white sclera or a thin mane and tail, they are not eligible to be licensed.

Whereas, these same characteristics are approved and expected for appaloosas.

But hey - if a breed does not follow its own guidelines and they have mixed it in with too many other breeds, then of course they will end up with a mish mash of horses - none of which match their own breed guidelines!!!

Which is why I said, if you have papers, then that is proof enough.

Sorry, just watched the video.

Bless her, she seems completely unphased doesn't she?

BUT she is hideously put together, and even for £600 I wouldn't touch her with a barge pole I'm afraid.......:(

personally I don't like her conformation, just too many faults and would worry about long term soundness.

I know there are the exceptions!! but if it were me I would keep saving

I can see what you mean by the hocks and although I could find the comment on the pigeon toe, I could almost see a pigeon toe foot fall when she walks towards the camera.
Shame as she looks lovely, but I really appreciate your comments! Thats why I posted the ad!!

Better keep looking :D

Hi,

She belongs to my friend! She bred her out of another friends TB mare by the spotty stallion. Both were fairly large upstanding horses and she came out and never grew! She is completely unspoilt (can vouch for that!) but katrina needs to get rid of a few hangers on before the winter and as she will never be big enough for her to ride she must go. She's selling at a real loss, but ha had very little serious interest and started off by asking 2k for her. She has got pigeon toes but actually moves quite well and straight and they aren't dreadful, a good farrier would do wonders with a decent set of shoes. You would have a lovely cheap horse who is very sweet to handle and genuine, tempted by her myself but no room at the inn here as its stufed full of irish sj ponies!
