So saw this yesterday. It is very reasonably priced (read cheap!) and looks nice, except that in the last picture looks soo weak - although I don't think its general confo is too bad? It doesn't say its PRE registered, so guess that is also considered in the price

I know some breeds do take a few extra years to grow into themselves, I know mine did after I got him but just thought I would see what people thought. Do you think this will mature into something nice, or stay gangly and weak looking?

Well he is only 5 so with some TLC he could mature into something nice but he does need to mature. He looks more like a 3 year old TB at the moment. He would need feeding up and alot of lunging etc to get some form of topline. He would be alot of work.
 
he is very weak and not fab quality, hence the price. saying that, they are quite slow to mature and will change drastically in the next 2 years with some TLC.probably worth a punt at £1500

Stunning horse, looks quite weak I agree, but would muscle up with a lot more work. I think he'll mature into something very showy :P
 
Thats what I thought, although would maybe offer a bit less to be cheeky - given the current financial climate

Plus, its from a dealer, so should be more open to bargaining - not really in the market for another one though.......
 
Oooo what a funny looking thing. Awful front legs, and I don't believe for a minute it's 5....................
 
Agree with Amy May on this one, I bet if you look in his mouth he is no more than 3 yrs old. Also he has awful front leg and feet conformation. He might be cheap but its going to cost a lot in time, feed, farrier to get him looking better.
 
You see, mine had bad front leg confo when I got him (toe- in and weak chested) as a four year old but passed the vets on the proviso that we didn't do much in the first couple of years.

Had him four years now, and his legs have straightened and he actually has a chest now

Thats the only reason I'm tempted, plus its interesting to see how many people would have been interested in my gangly thing when I got him (although not for as cheap as that!!) and I'm guessing not many!

I agreee with amy and charlie it does look younger than 5 and hasnt been worked properly yet, just broken quickly. well not suprising from a dealer really but should turn out nice after 6 months of good feed n work. He doesnt look very andalucian now but once his built up will probs be nice.

Some breeds, esp andalusians, can be VERY slow to mature, so as we're used to looking at nice well muscled and shaped 3 year old warmbloods, and fit looking TBs, this isn't necessarily the same for every horse. It may be less than five, but its not impossible that its five

looks like a lovely sweet babyish lad, agree with the above, he looks 3 to me! worth a go i think if you have the time to let him mature, could turn into something very nice.
god, i hope someone doesn't buy him and put him into full work because they believe he's 5...

Very handsome! But needs a bum I think!

Dealer seems quite genuine, and also has a rather cute 14.2hh boy up who I rather like for really cheap.

I Think he is at least worth a look.

mine was also very weak and sparrow chested as a 3 yo and is a different class now he is 6. as for feed-these horses are great doers and some British Dr Green will work wonders. needs buying, turning away until next year and some TLC. he will never be great quality but then you arent paying for great quality-but could be a nice wee horse eventually.
 

I don't think he'll be too bad given a year or so to mature.

I like the Haffy that's been sold & the Bright Bay Gelding listed, he looks a nice type.

Is that the Welsh D Cross Apalacia? He has a sweet face but his back end looks a bit strange. Could be the picture angle though maybe?

Probably buys them young, backs them n sells them quickly then he can still make a profit. You can buy unbroken 3/4 yr olds for £700.

I would go have a look if you're interested in that breed type, make sure hos passport etc are all valid and then if he's what you're looking for make sure the vet is aware that you have doubts about his age etc. Looks like a bit of a bargain but there may be a reason for the price other than the need for a quick sale.
 
I would say go and see for yourself.

the dealer is a pretty good guy..the stuff he gets in is as described...

i agree with DV..He is a little immature..but he sure to bulk up with time.

as for not "looking 5"...he looks ok to me??

I think it's those long gangly andalusian legs that make him look a bit 'odd' and he has no muscle. U just think he's immature for 5 personally. Bet in a year or so he'll look a completely different horse but NO Stencilface you are NOT in the market for buying and it would get pick on sooo badly in our bunch!!! Knew you'd end up posting that on today though.

I have alot to do with PRE horses, including the riding, training etc.. in their native land.
This horse is about as PRE as a Daffodil, sorry.

He is very weak, and I could go on for about a week on this, but no, I am simply going to say:

PRE horses are not cheap, by their true breeding and nature do have superb dressage ability, yes they are slow maturing but they don't suddenly change into something completely different.

If this horse can be imported and have all the other costs built in to make a profit, you can imagine how cheap he actually was in Spain.

I wish this would stop happening, people are advertising and selling horses as "Andalusian" into the Uk - that are simply not what the buyer thinks they are.

Any horse coming from the region (well actually anything really) could be called "Andalusian" - unless it has some Papers to support this (and they check out) - then I would say he isn't PRE or part blood. This means you could buy a shire or welsh pony from that region and call it Andalusian.

It does say in the advert that it has PRE papers, it says it has a Spanish passport, this is totally different thing, and is often used into confusing you about the meaning.

I like him. Yes he is very weedy, but he is very cheap considering what he is (if he's pure even if not reg). He's got a nice face on him. My Luso x TB looked like that when I bought him as a 5yo and he's filled right out now.

Id buy him for that price if I were nearer.
