Hi,

I haven't posted much before, I usually just come on and have a browse at the posts but thought I would see what people's opinions are on my youngster??

He is 2 at the end of June and currently standing at approx 16hh.I've had him for 3 months but worked at the yard he was bred so have known him since he was born. He has just been learning his general manners and I'm looking to take him out to a show at the end of the summer so we have something to work towards and do a local in hand class of some sort.

He looks a nice sort. Quarters could do with being built up a little. Also looks a little weak behind his withers, that could be the angle tough.

Is he a little 10-2 behind? If so keep a careful eye on his feet. Keep an eye on his hind legs too as he looks a touch straight, again it could just be the camera angle.

Take him out and have fun, it is always a great experience for youngsters to go to shows, the hustle and bustle is new and exciting and a fantastic way to introduce them to the atmosphere and noise! Having fun is the best thing you can do with them.

He has a gorgeous face, so inquisitive and curious looking :) nice front too.
 
Thank you, I think he is gorgeous but then I am a little biased!

He's not standing great in the photo, it was just a quick snap on my phone but he is very slightly 10-2 behind, the farrier has just been out to trim his feet today so its something with a close eye on! What would you suggest is a good way to build him up?

He is really well behaved and nothing has really phased him so far, he's got a lovely temperement and I've handled him since he was born so we've got a good bond. I want to get him out to see some new things before he's fully grown and built up as I think he's going to be quite a big lad, so it should help to get him used to things sooner rather than later in case he doesn't like them and he'll be easier to handle!

He's got good breeding and hopefully some great potential, looking forward to the future with him!
 
The showing will be great experience for him, I like to take youngsters to shows even if I don't enter them in anything! They learn so much.

I have always taken my youngsters out for walks in hand, it is quite varied countryside where I am and the mixed terrain and hills builds them up nicely. We only go for short walks to start with but it is all experience, the different sights and sound prepare them for their futures. His quarters will come as he gets older, it is just a baby phase. Some show judges will mark youngsters down for looking babyish, personally I don't like to see them too mature looking.

He looks a sweetheart, can I ask how he is bred?

What do you hope to do with him? He looks quite athletic, like he could do a bit everything and I imagine he moves nicely with that front :)
 
Someone has given me details for a novice show in august so I hope to work towards that and take him there, but like you say even if we don't enter a class he'll still get to have a look around and experience something new.

I definately want to take him for walks, I'm going to bit him first and let him get used to that and do some ground work in the yard so he's listening to me.

and his mum is an Oldenburg. I'd not planned to get a youngster, he was bred where I was working and I was always attached to him, they'd planned to sell him but just didn't get round to it, then they had to cut back on the horses a few months back and couldn't keep me working there and he was going to be sold so I said I would have him!

I hope to do a bit of everything with him, I havent done a great deal of competing before but if he's got the potential then I want to get him out there and do as good as we can! I'm quite excited to see how he turns out, but also looking forward to all the learning for both of us in the next few years :)
 
He takes after his sire, you can really see him in his head. I love Sandro Hit lines, he is such a gorgeous horse :) Have fun with your boy, I am sure he will be everything you want him to be.

We used to get him and his dam mixed up they looked so alike, but now he's looking more like his sire.
