After a terrible experience with a horse dealer this weekend & viewing the classifieds to find that there is not a lot of what I am wanting in my price range, do many people look at Wanted Ads and contact the potential buyer? If so, what websites do you look at? I have tried preloved over the weekend, however, found that I haven't had any replies.

We have and a lady is viewing one of our horses tomorrow. Her ad was on Horsequest. There are others on Horsemart too. Not sure if H&H have a Wanted Section or not?

I've had a wanted add on 2 sites for weeks and only had 2 replies. One wasn't suitable after talking on the phone the other email i got was the pony was 13.2 when my add does say must make over 14.2. So i'm hoping if i keep the ads updated, as winter approaches i may get a bit more interest. I have noticed over the last few weeks that the price of youngstock seems to be coming down.

Thanks for the suggestions. Everybody says that there is a recession and heaps of horses for sale, I sadly cannot find anything! I shall put my ad up on a couple of the suggested websites and hopefully will find my new best friend soon :)

I put wanted ads up, as although there are plenty of horses out there advertised....I can't seem to find a suitable one! I also thought that putting up a wanted ad might attract people who are also thinking of advertising but haven't done so yet.

I got lots of replies, unfortunately none of them suitable :( Even though I stated exactly what I was looking for (nice, well built 16hhish all rounder type, pretty much what everyone wants!)...I still got numpties ring me up with tiny BSJA ponies, 20 year old unbroken TB's etc.

I might try again, I used any free website I could find, could try horsemart, H&H, Horsequest and try your local tack shops etc.

We got our 1st pony through a wanted add in our local adtrader, he was a bit smaller than the 13.2 we were after but in all other ways he was perfect. It might be worth a try. Would also recomend tack shops and RC/PC newsletters websites, as people might give you a call before they actualy go down the route of advertising. Good luck.

I had been looking at different horse for 4 months and driven a lot of miles. A friend suggested a Wanted Ad. I put mine on HorseQuest, I think it was £15. I didn't write too much detail, just the simple facts about what I wanted. I had about 7 calls. The
5th one was from a lady 30 minutes down the road, and the horse was perfect and I bought her a week or so later. I was obviously pleased with the result.

I think it is worth placing an advert. I did NOT put how much I was willing to spend and although I said I was not looking for a superstar I did get offered a couple of horses way over £10,000.

I'm just sitting here looking at the forum whist wording my wanted ad. Nice to see people have been contacted as I was wondering if anyone would replyto mine.

Everyone is saying it is a buyers market but I have been looking for months and I wouldn't say I was fussy.

My lad has went to a new home on LVTB and I answered an ad on Pre loved. She sounded lovely after a few telephone conversations I invited her to view/ride him. I also had a friend of a friend ask if she could come and see him, I trusted friend and said I was worried re his height (18.1) she assured me everything fine. She turned up and said I didn't think he would be that big, good god what did she expect an 18.1 to look like!! Anyhoo I decided to go with the wanted ad as selling seemed too much of a minefield especially with a green biggie.

Good luck with your search.

Hi Pipstar, know exactly what you mean about the market! Had a few replies overnight & hopefully in the next coming weeks will find a suitable horse.

Good luck :)
