Opinions please (CC)

Thanks guys, I dont mind anyones comments, I openly asked for CC. My friend took one look at her pic and said "Good grief that thing is ugly":D But I dont mind, she is costing a tiny sum of money and I like her :p

She definately needs worming, I can agree with that which will be done as soon as she arrives. She does look very high in the bum, but I have asked for a couple more pics as I dont feel this one does her justice, however, she may really be just an ugly ****** hehehe ;)

Im "hoping" to use her a s a riding horse, I have always wanted a drum horse but have never come across anything with the right height etc, so its her breeding that sold her to me if Im honest. :o

It will be interesting to see if a different set of photo's show her in a better light as it were.

Either way, some decent grub and a good worming are going to make a huge improvement in her overall appearance - as will the spring grass.

Good luck with her :D

Well I'd hate to hear your non diplomatic version then:rolleyes:

Good lord, it wasn't rude, no swearing, she was giving a personal view, as was asked.

I really hate cobs, especially coloured cobs. So, I will always say nicer things about WB's. Does that make me rude?

Oh well.

It's called being diplomatic.

This had me absolutely howling with laughter and I'd love to hear amymay's undiplomatic version.

As for the OP's post, well, she's a funny looking thing at the moment, but so is my lad who is the same age. She's going to have a good Roman nose on her:) FWIW My lad when he is very bum high, which he is at the moment by about 5 inches, looks to be short in the neck but as his front end catches up he seems to stretch out in front again so hopefully they'll both end up reasonable.

I am very partial to Shire crosses, although I have to say that mine's only 1/4 Shire and the rest TB, in fact she's a Nijinski grandaughter.

While I appreciate that CobsGalore was sticking up for me, I agree, if she is not the sort of horse you would like thats fine lol. We are not all the same. On a personal level Im not a fan of thin boned horses such as Arabs, they just dont float my boat as it were ;) But thats what makes the horse world great, diverse opinions and tastes.
I just wanted to see what other peoples opinions were on her really :)

Excellent response :D

The main thing is she is what you want and that is what matters, have fun and enjoy.

I am nonplussed at the people on this thread attacking others for having different views and telling it like it is.

Very well put. Good luck OP, I am sure you will end up with a lovely big horse.

Some good CC ;)

I used to work for an Arab breeder and she maintained that at 24 hours old you get a snapshot of what they will look like as a mature horse, it then goes away again as growth spurts do strange things to them, until they blossom into a mature horse. I have done this with my foals and it is true. So if by any chance the breeder has a photo of her at that time it would be worth looking at. Photos of sire and dam would be interesting.

My OH has a mare by this stallion

I bet she looks cracking. All class, with a bit of bone.

I'd love it if she were however it has to be said that when my daughter's instructor first saw her her comment was "That is NOT an object of great beauty". After my rather nervous daughter had very happily popped round one of the biggest courses of jumps the instructor had seen her go round, without batting an eyelid, and the mare had worked very nicely on the flat as well she commented "I've changed my mind, that is one cracking horse you have there."

She is an utter treasure and her generosity is such that she's ended up at RC Nationals in dressage, SJ and Horse Trials, first Seniors with her previous owner and then Juniors with my daughter.

She's a perfect example of 'andsome is as 'andsome does. A really sweet easy horse to deal with that will go and turn her hoof to anything - and succeed.

That is absolutely the key, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder is also a favorite of mine.

My boy had loads of comments when he was completing properly about "not being built for speed" (irish mutt) but he won a 3* by being the only horse inside the time - so heart and attitude make up for his very average looks.

I find youngsters really difficult to CC, whatever the breed, sometimes they change so much over the years that they aren't recognisable. We had one that was called 'the camel' for its first three years, there was nothing going for it as a youngster, but it a matured into a beautifully put together horse.

As for this filly I think she'll look much better when she grows into her head and legs. :)

No, she's not short in the neck, I've seen many foals of a similar breeding and she's fine. She's 10months old and not got the best angles at the moment but everything looks to be in the right place... you try standing with your shoulders square when your arse is that high...

Why people try and compare her to warmbloods and arabs is beyond me.

I'd love to see a photo in the height of summer, wormed and with some good grub :)

Ok . . .
Spent some time reading through all the 'debating' messages there.

As far as the foal,
Fluffy little - well not little - thing!
Will make you a rather nice maybe 16.1-17.1 horse

Could do with a worming and lots of love.
Both I'm sure you will give her both of those.

I have a youngster, a rescue who was a total state, so trust me I have seen the pony underneath the rough ;)

Cut and shut yak pony. Expect I will have a very different opinion when the wee naglett is older though, they often look crappy at this age

She is short in the neck, straight through the shoulder, seen enough youngsters to tell, breeding makes no difference, if a neck is short it's short, if a shoulder is straight it's straight. She is a drum horse and has been bred that way, luckily she is just what the OP is looking for and is on course for a lovely life, I too would like to see her at the end of the summer when I am sure she will look heaps better.

No one has compared with warmbloods/arabs, just expressed a preference.

Apologies queen amaranta. How dare I disagree with you...

I will crawl back into my little hole and beat myself with a stick.

I'm not sure you need to be so defensive.

Posts like this are so interesting, and are very useful in improving peoples education when it comes to conformation.
