Opinions please (CC)

I don't think her markings enhance this particular picture, I'm viewing on my phone and it's hard to see what is background and what is her colour

Stupid phone!!

Anyway, she needs to grow into herself so I bet she's going to be a stunner when she's matured. She has a very sweet face.

I'm not sure you need to be so defensive.

Posts like this are so interesting, and are very useful in improving peoples education when it comes to conformation.

I'm not being defensive AM. I've said what I think and thats that... proofs in the pudding as they say :)

All being well Im getting this 10 month old filly in a fortnight. She is a Drum horse out of an 18hh Shire mare and by a 15.2hh Trad Cob stallion. Currently standing at roughly 14.2hh. What do you think of her conformation, and what height do you think she is likely to achieve..?? (Im having her anyway, Im in love lol, just curious of others opinions) This is the only pic I have at present. :D:D:D

She's got the steepest pelvic angle that I've ever seen (high croup, low tail). I know nothing about drum horses, is this desired?

I would be very interested to see what she looks like at three. You know the old saying about looking at youngsters conformation at 3 days, 3 months and 3 years. It is IME pretty accurate as youngsters often go through the fuglies between those ages.

I'm glad that she's just what you wanted, I hope that she surpasses your expectations. :)

See, now this little one is just cute, plain and simply, cute. I would love to see how she grows and matures... Keep us updated with the progress and pics :)

Shame your post almost turned in to a 'Handbags at dawn' as so many do on here lol

ha ha. well put. I thought here we go again...............!

4 legs, one head, two eyes, a baby tail and fluffy. Gorgeous.
I know nothing about confirmation or whatever its called. Its just a type each to their own. Anyway I would say worm too that was my first thought?
I love the nose..just my type.
I think your horse is very nice, fluffy and if I had the knowledge I would have bought.

What do you want to do with her when she grows up? She is such a baby still and looks like a baby.

Good luck, love a cob. So I am biased from the start.

Someone commented that they didn't like it because they were used to seeing warmbloods... that is sort of comparing apples and pears to me.

That someone was me. I was hardly cc'ing it by saying I preferred WB's therefore I wasn't comparing one to the other. Please read my post properly

In fact, I haven't cc'd it at all.

Alright, chill out :)

I'll go back and give myself another bash with the stick :)

Its conformation.....that is what it is called, not an unknown or difficult word. Glad she found you OP.

She'll grow into something quite nice!

For a cob she's got a decent length of neck and it's well set ( not too deep and low). Because she's so bum high at the moment it just looks short : cover the back half of her photo and she's rather nice. Shoulder's a bit upright but that's standard for draught X's.

Back end's all funky because she is SOOOO bum high. I suspect she's tucking her tail under in the wind but a low set tail is normal for a cob . She's cow hocked but again that's expected in a Shire X. She doesn't look like she'll be too post-legged (straight through the hocks) but may be sickle hocked. But you can't tell all that much about her whilst she's so bum high as it alters the way she stands so much.

I would expect her to grow into something long and leggy and have an active and decent walk. I think she'll make a cracking general riding horse and happy hacker but will be a bit heavy and 'draughty' to be an athletic competition horse.

Big cobs (16hh +) are really hard to find so you'll never be short of buyers should you want to sell her on later.

Dons hard hat and kevlar gear!
She is so fluffy ugly in this picture she is actually cute. :p
May be a case of ugly duckling to swan. Without seeing her parents and grandparents its hard to tell what she may eventually become.
Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and her inner beauty will shine through which is much more important to the owner. She hasn't been bred to win the Olympics or any showing trophies.
Not my type but if we all liked the same sort of horses, just think how many breeds would be or become extinct.
I hope she turns into exactly what you have bought her for. As long as you love her thats all that matters.

At last Little Ted has a sister on the forum. He is also out of a Shire by a traditional cob. This picture was taken at 12 months of age and only his mother could love him.

Tedafter2weeks001.jpg

Hidden away for a while, a mega worm, a bite of grass, many bags of SureGrow, more worming, a huge amount of haylage and look what has happened. Admittedly not everyone's taste in horseflesh, but he is healthy, kind and will do a job in the future.

OP, it will be another 5 years plus before your filly matures, good luck you will need patience, a lot of money and a sense of humour.

I like her... a good worm, lots of Dr. Green and she'll be a different filly. Shes certainly not going to be a svelte thing though... I have two of these heavy weight mares, and a friendly bit of advice, just send your salary straight to your local hay supplier.

Thankyou for that brilliant spelling lesson.

Its conformation.....that is what it is called, not an unknown or difficult word. Glad she found you OP.

As you can tell i dont know how to use this multi quote. Even this is back to front.

Its confirmed I love this horses confuddled conformation. I just happen to like cobs and OP your horse is going to make a good solid horse and I do think a type hard to find particularly for a gents horse. I hope she grows nice and strong, cant stand stick insect horses however good their breeding. Good luck. ps the spelling was deliberate I must have been in a religious mode. Happy Easterx

Oh my another stunning cob. Wow we are being treated. Nice type too, good to see. Nice pics and just love the nose as well. I think you are wrong this is the kind of horse many on here do like. Good hardy old fashioned horse. Stunning, I am biased.

@AdorableAlice (check me out using tweet-lang!!)

That's a lovely beast you got there and I don't suppose he's finished going up & out yet? :)

Great to show the change AA :) He looks lovely now.
You might also find that she isn't actually wormy, that's just her youngster shape, plenty go through the stage :)

He is very far from finished. He will be 2 in June. I expect at least 17h and 800kg plus. My health is not great at the minute and having him to look forward to is keeping me positive. Brought up properly he should be a steady easy type to ride in my old age. He is clown at the moment but it will pass.

She's a cob :D She has the shoulder and the hind leg of a cob :D

Her markings show up the 'shortcomings', but once she's finished growing they'll probably enhance her shape :D

She also has the x factor :D. I think that, from a pure 'horse' point of view, she's going to be a head turner :D

Thanks for everyones input :D She is what I wanted so Im sure she will be loved whatever, am hoping that this is just a "fugly" stage and that she will grow out of it, but only one way to find out ;) :o

AA Ted is a super looking boy, just my stamp of horse, he looks fab..!!!! :D:D:D

Thanks amymay, am just getting her transport sorted today, she should end up being here around 18th of April :)
There will be LOTS of pics then, and Im hoping it will show her in a slighly less, er, "unusual" light lol :o:p

Awwwwe, more pictures please!
I have one ... 16hh Shire Cross.

Picture here as a wormy FOUR YEAR old ... just coming out of that ugly baby phase. She was disproportioned, croup high and not much to look at until she was about 5.

Didn't turn too ugly in the end though!
