I have a little pony at the moment on behalf of a friend of mine, he is 6 and has never really had any proper schooling and she bought him for her 10 year old daughter, who is an alright rider but used to older well schooled ponies who are not as forward as him when it comes to jumping. due to lack of proper schooling he was very weak on his left rein and charged at jumps somewhat, he is also very nervous and lost the plot a bit as when they got him they done about 4 months of 3-4 times a week taking him jumping, starting from the 2nd day they had him! So I have had him for a while trying to even him up a bit, getting him schooled and calm etc, which went well so I then gave him some time off to chill him out a bit and rode him for the first time today and he was lovely, so the plan now is to continue and then Feb / March time start taking him to a couple of little showing / dressage shows and then possibly a small jumping show, to see how he reacts before advertising him.

So here is the question - can I do it? Sizewise I mean - he is 140 cm connemara, chunky type and I am 5'9! I weigh between 9 and 9 1/2 stone depending on how much of a pig I have been!!

Here are some photo's of me on him - what do you think? Can I get away with it??

I think in terms of schooling him you have no problems- but you do look too long in the leg and too tall for him for showing classes- bear in mind this is my opionion only! But jumping and stuff as long as he is enjoying it and tackling it well I cant see a problem.

aaahhh bless that is sooo cute!!!

Thank you all for your opinions, that gives me a bit of reassurance it is only gonna little local riding club stuff nothing too serious!!!
