Opinions please..

i think if you could give him a good home, and afford some vets/medication bills, why not go and have a look! i would want to be given him (pay £1) rather than buy him though...put that money in the bank for vets days!

it was on yesterday people were talking about how creul that she hadnt got vet out and how it would be nice to go to someone nice

Could you post links to the threads?? I would'nt be paying anywhere near £400 for due to the fact he hasn't even seen a vet yet and don't know the extent of the problem and he would be a rather large/ exspensive field companion :S

there was another post on this yesterday...........personally if it was my horse i would be just looking for a good long term home (loan)
totally depends what you need............there are alot of horses around that are probably more 'sound' but no harm in looking!!!!

Personally i would steer well clear, sounds like a lovely chap but with those issues

i would rather shell out another £800 on top for a steady sound plodder than possibly end up with thousands in medication bills as insurance wont touch him!

I would get him fully vetted and work out what the meds may cost and then decide if its sensible - but please keep us updated - hes gorgeous and I hope someone sensible takes him

i'd be so happy if i heard he got a good home. but as others have said he is potentially a walking vet bill

Hmm not sure what to do... I know if i view him ill like him. But others have said he could be a walking vet bill... or it could be pretty simple to get him right. I think i might give her a ring and have a chat see if he's been seen by a vet and who gave the navicular diagnosis.

Have just read the other post, and the responsible thing would be to actually get a vet to diagnose the problem, and rather than shove him off for a couple hundred quid put the poor guy to sleep

,lord only knows were he would end up and what he would be expected to do

He could do with someone buying him and taking him straight to the abattoir. Please don't any deluded people actually think they could get a bargain horse that they can fix with cuddles and physio here. Foreleg pointing, at rest, with no sign of recent trauma is classic advanced navicular. Poor blooming horse.

A freind of mine has a mare with navicular shes 16 now had her 8 years and she had it when she brought her, took 3 vets to diagnose her she is still in light work and enjoys it... only when she wants to though (chesnut mare lol) i think IF and thats a big IF i view him i will take her as she knows so much about navicular syndrome and then if she doesnt tell me not to touch him have him properly assesed by a vet. Will post when have spoken to his owner tomorrow.

My daughter and I viewed him when he was up for share. We didn't go for him because it was a 30 min drive each way. We are not 'experts' so wouldn't have known a recognised a navicular horse. But I would say, he is a lovely character - so be prepared to 'fall in love' if you do go and view.

The owners also seemed to be really caring people - maybe they are not particularly knowledgeable about horses??? When we saw him they did say he could not be heavily used, just gentle hacking and no schooling.

Let us know how you get on, I'd love to tell my daughter he has a nice new home.
