My friends horse is on full livery and has been diagnosed with stifle problems. He is quite long backed and the stable is a deep litter. So deep that he ends up standing down hill constantly.

Do you think this may have contributed to his stifle problems ? Does anyone have any experience of this or read anything on the internet ?

It won't be doing the horse good to be standing like that, it would certainly be bad for his back, whether it has contributed or not is hard to tell but I think if deep litter is used it should be over the whole floor not just part. If he has a stifle problem turning out as much as possible, which may not be happening if on full livery, so that could also be contributing.
