This is my new gelding.
He's a pure leopard spot Appaloosa.
10 years old, approx 15.3hhishhh.

He's not long come into work. He was broken at the age of 7/8.
The photos below were taken just after he was broken.

Looking for any plus/negative point - don't be too harsh though! ;)
Just looking for things to look out for, not great with conformation!

I know nothing about the breed, so I can only comment on his stamp.

Good length of rein and deep through the chest, slightly thick through the gullet so might find flexion tricky, but he is vastly over topped for his limb, so if you are going to start enjoying him, he needs to drop the top off to preserve his legs, especially as the pastern looks a little short and upright.

Good luck, enjoy him.

Haha, yeah he does have a bit of a belly in this! (:
He wasn't doing much work at the time as he was still be trained.

Thank you, fell in love with his face as soon as I first saw him!
Just wasn't sure on the conformation side!

Sorry phone did not upload your second photo, but know has :o

I no one to talk about tubby ponies ( on going battle here :) ) but echo, don't allow him to put on any more weight x

He is still lovely nonetheless :)

What do you mean by over topped/drop the top off? (sorry!)
Thanks for the advice though!

It was a very polite way of saying he is too heavy for his limb.

All you need to do is plenty of road work in walk to start with and cut his grub back a bit.

When he a little lighter, up the work, include trot and find a few hills. Six weeks on he will be trimmer and fitter and look lovely because he is a very nice looking horse.

Ah right!
These photos were taken when he was first being trained. He has lost a lot of this weight since then, just haven't been able to get some newer photos of him yet! :) will post some when I can! Thanks for the advice though, will definitely give it a go to shift the remaining weight. He doesn't get fed a great deal as it is, must be all that grass he has! :)

And thanks for all the lovely comments everyone, wasn't expecting such a reaction! Appaloosas can be a bit like marmite to some! xo

Hello - he is lovely...as you have already mentioned he is a bit tubby but you already know that.

My friends appy is very similar...lots of QH in the breeding? is he very flat backed? she has had a nightmare with saddle fitting..got there in the end.

He is lovely..can see why you like him.
