no hes a friend of a friends & i was just hoping for some expert opinions, the people advertising are selling him on behalf of the friends friend (hope that makes sense) hes at sales livery & stil not sold. i hav my own views on why this is but wanted to know what you intelligent lot thought!
Is he yours?
If so, I think you need to get a different rider on him to show him off better.
As he's advertised as an ideal WH horse, I would like to see jumping pics.

Edited due to reading further posts.
Without meaning to cause any offence to anyone, I think the pictures are pretty poor. With the size of him and those short stirrups the rider looks faintly ridiculous and also looks insecure and tipping forwards. He looks to be quite heavy in the hand and I'm sure the pics don't do him justice. Would want to see jumping pictures as well personally.
big horse good color, but would pull his mane and tail (and wash it!!) his breeding isnt special! is his wind good? has he hunted? and bsja? is he full up height and upto weight?
Poor photos,
Poor tack - Saddle is too far forwards and makes him look long backed
Looks poorly schooled - appears on forehand and not working through, would expect to do alot of schooling before I could go out competing.
Over priced.
Photo wise I would want a conformation shot, a side on ridden shot, and a jumping shot.
i would agree the photos are poor... the rider makes the horse look huge and very uncomfortable...as others have said he looks very heavy in hand and would want to see some jumping pics.
i think if i saw those photos i wouldn't even look at the ad- no offence, but thats my honest opinion as they are very poor and rider looks ridiculous tbh.... but you can see from them that hes a nice sort, but i think those photos don't do him justice and wont help sell him!
thanks i was wanting honest opinions, like i say hes not mine & i have my own opinions on why he hasnt sold, primarily his price especially in todays market! hes has actually been with the dealers since feb 09 - look at the ad code! which makes me think they are overpricing to get livery money
he hasnt hunted (dealers wont even hack him!) dont think hes done bsja, but not certain (has been to local unaffiliated with dealers but not sure what height) Royal Highland show was with previous owner. he is upto height/weight. all of the pics/ad is written by the dealers.
If it were my horse that I was trying to sell I think I'd be finding another yard to do it! Any half decent dealer should know what sorts of photos to use and be able to take some flattering ones, they just aren't doing him any justice at all IMO.
And someone needs to tell the rider to drop those stirrups down at least ten holes
Agree with above pics do not do him any justice at all. And if they have been trying to sell him since Feb then it must have occured to them that maybe something was wrong with the ad. Has anyone looked at him at all?
I really like him and would love to see how he goes when ridden properly I am afraid if I was in the market for an 8 grand horse those pics would make me think the dealers were clueless or not kosher and I would move on.

Ditto. Of course, he may not go better than that without schooling. He's a BIG lad and if he hasn't been well-schooled at some stage in his life. then un-balanced and heavily on the forehand may be natural to him. If I was looking for a BIG HW hunter for a week-end gentleman rider (and that's the most lucrative market for this sort) then I would discount this horse on the pics because your average week-end gentleman rider is quite incapable of getting a horse off the forehand and he'd fall at the first ditch!
IF he was pictured looking well-balanced - and had a bit of hunting under his belt - then £10,000 would be achievable. As shown in this ad, he's over-priced, badly presented, and won't sell in another month of Sundays, I'm afraid.
To make the point, this horse is pure ID, nearly as big, and only 4! He's still a little on the forehand, but at least he doesn't look like the rider is carrying his head!!
the rider does the poor lad no favours as she looks like she's perched on top like a sack of spuds! better pics would def help sell him. i do like the look of him though.
