Being a total idiot and not knowing that much about bits. I have just realised I have been riding my horse in a bit which is the fitted the wrong way around. I am using a waterford hanging cheek bit (or at least that is what I have been told it is called) Now I have been riding with this upside down with the reins attached to the hanging cheek bit (opps!). Well this is the best way I can describe it. Now my question to you is should I change it round to the proper way or continue with my adaption as it seems to work so far for my boy?????

Thanks in advance

I'm no expert, but i would say put it the right way round! It was designed to go a certain way and it may cause problems in the long term upside down.

Thanks that makes sense, I have recently bought the horse and this was the bit he came with ( and how his old owner had used it) so thought nothing of it untill I saw a picture of the bit in question the other way up from how I was was using it. I will try it the other way and see how he reacts.
