Just been looking on the equiport site at the OR bands and noticed that they have some which look 'shaped' round the heel bulbs and have a buckle strap on the front.

Has anyone used them?

I am concerned about rubbing and about the strap standing up to use. Any reports? Good/bad?

I don't currently use OR boots at all, and am toying with the idea of bands as I hate boots with a passion.

Just looked, they look like a good idea! Are you wanting to protect the heel bulbs or prevent shoes being pulled off? Cos the showjumpers just use duck tape, you wrap a big section of tape around the points of the shoe and over the bulbs.

P.S looks like I was a little too late with P !! I should not have dawdled! But still keeping fingers crossed!

I think that close up pic makes them look quite cumbersome! I'd be so worried about them tripping on those, would feel much safer with duck tape, obv doesnt offer as much protectiion, but still better than nothing..

Not worried about shoes - only ever had him pull one off, just thinking with bigger tracks if he makes a mistake he may over-reach and hence perhaps I should use some kind of boot on him. However he is too lazy to track-up 90% of the time, and I have not had even a hint of an over-reach to date even the one time he pulled a shoe, so I am loathe to use boots when I've seen/heard of so many accidents caused by them. Hence thinking bands, and being lazy thinking buckles = easier than stretching rubber over his hoofs when he is already thrilled about being at a party!

Having had all sorts of nightmares in the past with over-reach boots, IMHo you can't go wrong with good old fashioned pull on boots with the bottom cut off so they can't stand on them.

Once you have used them a fiar few times, they become easier to put on, or soak them in hot water before you put them on - makes it way easier.
