ordering jods / clothing off the net

argh, i HATE doing this but it is soo much cheaper than my local tack shops!! however i dont really know what sizes to order?
my jods can vary from 2/3 sizes and i can not deal with sending things back!
my local wanks £40 for a pair that last me a couple of weeks before falling apart and i DONT want to spend £60 per pair for 'working' in as they're just get ruined so cheaper is better (i dont work full time so no need to get better value for money)
been on derby house and robinsons and can get some for about £12.50 up to £25 just dont know what sizes as when it shows the size guide they are ALL different between the makes.
do you normally get your standard size or go by the jod sizings displayed?

I hate buying jodhs online too as the sizing is so unpredictable because you can't tell how stretchy they are going to be. I also hate buying from the local tack shops because it is always so difficult to tell what they have in each size and invariably you find a pair you like the look of and they only have them in one size, that size will be so much too big or small for you that trying them on does not help you decide what size you need and they will offer to order them but then you need to guess the size - argh!

Anyway I've had a few pairs of everyday jodhs from decathlon, £15 a time, changing rooms available and a full range of sizes to try. Will definitely be going back, they are still looking pretty good after 8 months of regular wear.

Robinsons are cheap, and hard wearing, I have a pair that were less than £15 that are still going strong after 10 years. But the sizing is total pot luck so be prepared to return them. Last time I ordered a pair of jodhs from them they were soooooooo long that the knee patches were round my ankles and I'm 5ft8", made the husband try them on and they were too long for him too, which is a first. I once ordered three pairs all the same size and had to return two pairs as one was too big and the other too small.....

I ordered some breeches from derby house and guessed at the sizes, they were £20, reduced from £70, luckily both pairs were fine but its so hard to tell. Different makes are always different sizes, sometimes people leave reviews on items and they can help with sizing x I'm a size 8 and usually buy a size 8 or 10. Rather them be a bit bigger than crushing myself into a pait too small! x
 
derby house have breeches for 12.50 as opposed to 40+ so going to try my luck and just order, gone for a size smaller than last time as they were too big!

I have gallop ones off eBay, they were about 17 pounds, nice and stretchy and quite thick material with zip pockets, wish I'd gone a size down now they've worn a bit though. Totally worth returning til you've got your size right at least you'll have a default brand then!

I had those decathlon ones too they were really good, shame I lost them would defo buy more if I am passing one of those shops!
