After trying various haynets over the years, and mainly feeding natives who are greedy I have on the whole bought smaller holed nets, rather than the large holed nets,to try to make their rations of hay last them longer.

What I have found is that the smaller holed nets get "chewed" more than the nets with larger holes, so sort of defeats the object of having the smaller holes as they just make a bigger hole by biting it!

The smaller holed nets tend to be a bit more expensive - so is it a false economy? Has anyone else found this too?

I still find hay lasts longer in small nets even with the holes in! however twine fixes ripped haynets very effectively :) My larger hole hay nets rip just as much. Ive heard the trickle nets are very tough but my horses live out as much as possible so I couldn't justify the price!

They are more expensive because there is more rope :) We use small hole nets so they don't spill so much, they don't slow down our greedy pony!

My Connie destroyed a small holed Haynet in one night. Think that was his way of saying "I don't think so mum" he just has normal ones now

I bought small holed haunted from seller dogbull69 on eBay and they are brilliant - my haynet eaters haven't been able to make holes in them and because the net is thicker they don't deform so much and they can't pull out too much hay in one go. I'd bought Shires small holed nets before and my baby Arab ate them - wondered what the pile of quidded nylon was on the floor floor until I tried to restuff it.....

I double net with small holed haynets which does slow down my cob. Ordinary holes would mean he'd be through his hay in under an hour!
