this may have already been mentioned on another thread but has anyone read Liz Jones in the Mail today on about her rescued race horse

honestly i was rolling around on the floor laughing when she said she took a bag of ready sliced organic carrot battons with her when she went to look at it. i'm sure she looks after it very well but i cannot STAND HER and that artice just confirmed it!

I love reading her musings and I actually quite like her but her approach to animal care isn't quite the same as mine!!

And I thought it was just me who spoiled my ned. I buy him organic carrots with the tops still on and those little stubby carrots which are so sweet........

Not having read anything by her,my first suspicion is that she is gently poking fun at you all,(but not me, my horse has to have the organic stumpy carrots with the tops on for medical reasons,he told me)

I read it this morning and spent all the time reading it shouting at the newspaper....stupid bint!

The bit about riding in plimsols because they could not afford riding boots;

1. Any self respecting riding school in the 60's/70's would never allow it

2) Wellies you silly cow.....we all learnt to ride in wellies and they were cheap enough.

Sorry but she makes my brains seep out of my ears! That poor bloody horse!

I was more concerned that she took charge of a nervous horse, post unloading, wearing flip flops!!! Please correct me if I mis-read this, but surely, in the absence of riding boots, there must have been a more sensible choice!!

Oh thanks for reminding me of this particular piece of lunacy....no doubt though they were Prada Flip flops.

I liked the bit about when she was young, it reminded me of myself, although i did have riding boots. Maybe we were rich after all?!

Meh, she seems like she has the right intentions but is just a bit of numpty taking on too much. I also cringed at the flip flops, i mean that's just a lack of common sense. I did also get the feeling a lot of it was not strictly fact and was prone to exaggeration, especially the stuff about her honey moon, i mean surely you wouldn't stay with someone who 'climbed off you stating "well you can't get an annulment now",' on your honeymoon. Although i suppose that's what being a good writer is.

Horse looked healthy and happy though, and it did sound like she really did think the world of her. There's worse people and worse off horses.

It amazes me that that awful woman actually gets paid for the c**p she turns out - nice work if you can get it.

My mare only gets organic carrots because she is allergic to the pesticide residue on ordinary ones.

Luckily, as much as she'd like you to believe it, she isnt the sole carer of her horses! She does have a knowledgable "hand" who does her horses 90% of the time

Thank god for that then! I think she also has someone (Nicola?) who is a professional who is helping her with "Lizzies" (for that read Liz's!!) issues.

All I can say is both the person that does and Nicola deserve sainthoods as I would have wrapped the yardbrush round her head by now.

Does anyone remember the wonderful piece "in which Lizzie thorws me off"......Should have been named "in which Lizzie desperatly tries to tell me she is in pain but I am such a numpty I ignore her and carry on until in desperation she chucks me off"

Daft bat!
