Oshka and I have just had the day from HELL...(inc photos)

How horrendous! I reiterate that the rug saved him big-time, I don't like to think what he'd have been like without it on!
I hope both yours and his wounds heal quickly. Thank Heavens it wasn't worse!

OMG I am glad Oshk came out not bad. What a terrible thing to happen and what a daft boy to get himself in such a pickle.

Hope all heals ok (including your tummy).

Poor Oshka, but what a pillock! LOL We once had a pony who got in behind some barbed wire and tore his flank. Has frightened the life out of me ever since.

Glad he's okay though... looks like you'll be rug shopping this weekend...

Aww poor Oshka

OMG! Poor Oshk, on the bright side, it could have been so much worse if he had not been wearing a rug and/or struggled more than he did.

Horses never fail to surprise me with the pickles they can get themselves in! Poor lad - hope he feels better soon.

One of my riding school ponies managed to get himself wedged between the fence and two trees. He must have got stuck between 8pm at night and 7am in the morning, there was a lot of droppings and pony was truely stuck. Needless to say, we had to cut the trees down to free said pony!!

Oshk looked pitifull and was obviously desperate for you to save the day!!

I had a horse do the same thing many years ago. The same horse a while later leant so hard over a fence he fell into next doors growing trees and had to be extracted by removing a fence!

My god how lucky has he been & daft! So Oshka was the grass greener on the otherside!

As other's have said so lucky he had his rug on. Also highly lucky that he hasn't look to have paniced in there too much as he could of so easily of put his hooves through that sheep netting as well. I have seen a couple of horses do that & get nasty wounds from that. Lest he doesn't look too traumatised when his Mum has taken him back to feed & check him over or is that just because he has a haynet!! Big hugs too you both. x

Horse do do the daftest things sometimes and get soo lucky at the same time. We found one of ours (oldie, about 28/30 at the time) stuck down a ditch/field dran by our field, he'd obviously got freaked out by something and fallen over a barbed wise fence and ended up under brambles etc - all we could see was his tail, we thought he had to be dead til we heard him whinny! Between me and my sister, some lads from the local nursery (with cutters), the vet and a local farmer with his JCB we managed to hoike poor horsey out and, other than him being knackered and a bit dead legged he was, amazingly fine(vet hungry though).

I find it amazing they actually go so calm, like they know you're trying to help. Glad it all worked out ok for you and him - he may think twice before doing that again!!!

What a lucky boy, thank god for the rug!!!My lad was ripped up on barbed wire,it should be made illegal, there is no just cause in this day and age to use it!!!

Look at his poor face! He looks so embarrassed. You really do wonder how on earth they get themselves into these predicaments don't you? I have to say though that despite his grazes he has been one lucky boy. When Ellie had a fight with some barbed wire we ended up with stitches so this could really have been so much worse.

Hopefully he will think twice before attempting it again though.
