My Connemara Chalky was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis last year in his hocks. Since diagnosis we had him x-rayed which showed the beginnings of it in the 3rd section[Can't quite remember what the 3rd section is..he did explain!] and we had an injection of Tildren...it worked for a while and he has been on joint supplement, however it has worn off now, and while he is still on the supplement and he is also on a bit of Bute we are looking to do something about it, had a quick call with the vet who said Tildren is an option again or steroid injections...having a more lengthy call tomorrow, but what would you folks advise?I'm not too sure what the steroid injections do/involve and price wise..

So any helpful comments, or previous experiences with this condition welcome, also any general tips to help it.

Any comments really appreciated as i'd like some information on it all...

My mare was dianosed with bone spavin a couple of months ago. She has had one cortisone injection and has come sound with that.. I spoke to my vet regarding Tildren, but he doesn't think it's necessary now.....not sure why, but basically he said that if she has come sound from the Cortisone she doesn't need the Tildren. It could also be that the joint has fused of course!
