Osteopath for Horses - Any other experiences

After having my daughter treated by an Osteopath, and on advice from our trainer, I watched the Osteopath put our jumping pony through his paces last night.

The pony has no serious problems, although he was a little tight in his shoulders / neck. It was absolutely facinating watching the lady rotate joints etc, while the pony remained calm and relaxed. I was so impressed ... by her ... but also the pony, who in the past has always been a bit of a "big girl's blouse" when having anything strange done / meeting a stranger ... but on this occasion he was an absolute star

Any one else had any experiences in this area ?

Yes, my neighbour is an osteopath who has treated me many times, but who also specialises in treating all types of animals www.zooost.com and has been working on our pony for the last few weeks to sort a shoulder injury (she is 99% sound, just waiting for him to give her the all clear)

He has travelled to zoos all over the world to treat anything from birds to elephants but most of his animal work is equine.

I too have used a specialist equine osteopath (a world reknowned one based in Gloucestershire) and have done a small amount of training with same. The techniques are fascinating, gentle but using the horses bodyweight to assist with the movements used.

Certainly worked for me and the horse involved.

Yes I use an equine osteopath for my TB. The first time she saw him he was very sore and it was amazing to see how she worked all the muscle groups and joints. The result were amazing. Joe is a top class wimp when it comes to pain but he was almost scraping his nose off the floor he was so relaxed
