Has anyone come across this problem.

I have had my horse for over a year, and even though Iv been told he can be slightly coldback and not to over girth, he has never so much as flinched when Iv got on his back.

When my husband gets on its a different story, humps his back, little bucks and generally plays up for a minute!!

Iv watched my husband get on, I cant see what he does, husband often tacks up for me and I get on, so cant see what can be different there.

This morning I even said to my hubby try to think how I would be when I get on, normally fubbling about to sort myself out lol.
Same thing happened was twitchy for a bit!

Btw he is a bit of a special horse, does have some strange ways and hates change, but hubby rode him twice last week so he should be used to him now!

My horse was the same with my OH. There is about 4 stone between us although OH only weighed 12 stone and horse is 17hh. He just didn't like the extra weight. Soon as OH got on he would do his best to get him off!

Hmm weird question but does he have his stirrups longer? My horse had a fairly short legged rider and was a bit perturbed by where my legs were at first, especially if I put one back or forward to do girth, stirrups etc, she seems to have a certain zone she is comfortable with my legs being in!

Is your OH as relaxed as you or could he be a bit tense?

How does the saddle fit your OH? If he is longer in the leg then it could be pushing him too far back in the saddle and making the saddle uncomfortable for the horse...... Especially if he is also a bit heavier.......

It would be worth you both jumping on the scales in all your riding gear to check your weight.

My OH and I share a horse, and any problem will be exacerbated by OH riding as he is heavier and taller than me.

Thank goodness for that....was really worried for a moment there :o

I know this site is known as Pony Porn, but thought we'd gone there literally for a moment!

He would normally rider shorter than me as I have long legs, but then I suppose this could be the problem or that the weight distribution in the saddle is exacerbated by the extra pounds.
