Other horse is removing my horses muzzle

The other horse in the field is removing my horses grazing muzzle literally as soon as I put it on him, and even does it while I am watching!! - it is driving me mad as I can't keep one on him!!

Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas as to how I can stop him?!!
 
No help but my attempt at wieght management for fatty using muzzles ended when his friend simply took it off for him as soon as my back was turned it was very funny but frustrating .
 
1. Use a muzzle without velcro (quick google brings up a few)
2. Use a field-safe headcollar over the top (normally used on muzzled houdinis, not field-mate houdinis!)
 
My fattys friend removed the head collar it was hilarious he got very good at it fatty would go across as if to say she's gone get it off me.

Thank you. Not sure one without velcro will help as sometimes he pulls it over my horses head!

Do you literally just put the field safe headcollar over the top, or do some clever thing where it's half on top half underneath (if you get me?)?

My horse had it happily on for a month, and then his friend worked out how to remove it, now my horse refuses to eat with it on because he knows sooner or later his friend will come over and take it off for him :mad:
 
One of my youngsters was doing this to one of mine so I just tapped the velcro up with parcel tape. I laughed when the baby couldn't get it off and then felt stupid when I realised I couldn't get it off either!!!

Luckily my horse was really good about me squeezing it on her. Also it was safe as she's out in electric fenced paddock but if there were things to get it caught on I wouldn't of tapped it up as obviously the safety release wouldn't really work.

I kept it tapped up but I bet after a week the novelty of taking it off would of worn off for my baby horse.

Depends on the horses tricks!

I tend to go under headpiece one side and come back over it.
 
My youngster pulled my companions muzzle off and adding a field safe headcollar just made it more fun. I added another strap to my grazing muzzle so that it went through the adjuster on the head piece and went like a throat lash but before his jaw so it couldnt be pulled over his head ( look up the greenguard grazing muzzle headcollars ) particularly as has tiny ears. I also sewed a band of elastic into an open ended tube and slid that over the velcro fastening once done up so the velcro couldnt be pulled open or rubbed/ rolled undone.
 
Cant help cos I have the same problem - wore it for 6 months no probs at last yard then we moved!!

It was hanging under his chin the other day, I laughed as it was a bit like having an oversixe pelican bib while he ate (if you remember those?)

I tied some twin from 1 side looping under the muzzle webbing & back to the other side then thought better of it in case it got "undone" so I am just hoping every time I go down that it stays on :(

Cheeky beggars but gotta give them points for trying.

It was very funny the first few times, but now it's just annoying!!

My two geldings used to do this, then progressed to undoing rugs etc. They seemed to like dragging each other around. We had to put a muzzle on both of them to stop them!

Yes they are very playful anyway. My horse grabs the other horses tail with his teeth and they run around together while he is holding on! Hopefully they won't start removing rugs either!

I would muzzle the other one but he isn't mine and he doesn't need it, otherwise I would!
