Other people tying up outside my stable

I can't tie my horse outside her stable (no tie-ring and more importantly no space). I do most things inside her stable. When I need to tie her up outside I do so in front of the stable of one of her field-mates (they all get on well so no arguments). I don't leave her there unattended; and I don't tie her up when the owner is tending to their horse. Would this also upset people?

Other way round for me at the last yard. The number of people who would soak haynets and then tie up in the hosing area used to do my nut. And ones who use communal hay and leave it in nets in communal tacking up area, I don't want my horses stuffing their face before a ride. They are fine without hay!
 
I would be very cross, Benson21, though there would be so much face pulling and lunging at the horse outside that only a retard would think it a good idea.

You could put some bailer twine on your own door so that you can tie to your own door if you must tie up outside.

To be honest normally I never tie up outside other than tying by the hose for hosing and bathing. I tack up and groom etc in my box it is just at the moment because I have to lay a full bed to the door I have no clear floor in my stable for doing feet and putting on boots that I am tying outside the stable. Once I'm back to a normal half bed I won't bother.
 
Yes, totally pees me off too. On our yard there is plenty of space to tie up, but they all seem to prefer my tie up ring. And even worse will leave behind farrier clippings, piles of hay and piles of poo. I have now given up clearing it up and instead sweep offending "piles" in front of the offenders stable door!!
 
Just remembered an amusing one on the last yard.

One owner brings her horse in to find stable (which had been mucked out that morning) filthy. Another owners sharer (nightmare) had put horse in hers whilst off doing something else as hadn't wanted to muck out hers! Beyond the level of annoyance, and on to sheer disbelief all round!

I think this refers to my post. There is no space outside my stable. Opposite the stable there is a wall. The gap between stable and wall isn't wide enough to turn a horse around in. Next to my horse's stable there is a small storage area which forms a dead end. On the other side there is another stable, so no space to tie her up safely. Like you I do almost everything inside her stable but need to tie her up very occasionally to wash off her legs. When all other horses are in I have tied her outside a field-mates stable to do this. When there is an empty stable then I use that. I have never left her unattended outside a stable with another horse in it (I have someone helping me if I need to refill a water-bucket etc). I have never had any problems doing this. However, I would prefer if the set-up enable me to tie outside my horse's stable.
 
I had a horse who bit a piece of baler twine if a fit of temper, got it stuck between her teeth and promptly pulled on out complete with a large chunk of gum, be warned.

At our stables the tying up rings were put up by my husband and before that it was baler twine tied to the gate and door casings. I can imagine whose horse would wreck the gate of pull the door out of its frame, when I want to tie up I usually can't cos there are horses there already.

I used to soak my hay for 24 hrs at the last yard and leave it in the container in the corner of the wash bay - not near the tying up ring I might point out, I have found it has been eaten and also shat upon, both annoyed me intensly.

Luckily my horse if pretty dominant so woe betide anything that sticks its head in his box.

We had a fanatic sweeper at the last yard also, she would sweep furiously in front of her box -so much so that there was a huge crater in the yard (which used to fill with water when it rained and she used to moan about it ha ha) but then conveniently forget to pick it up and used to leave it outside my box, got to point I would just sweep it back.

She also used to smoke on car park, but wasn't quite so anal there and used to flick her fag ends onto yard, funny how some people have such double standard. Oh then she used to tip her water buckets in front of other peoples stables so as not to fill her hole full of water! and it didn't matter if it was freezing, you would end up with a skating rink!

omg i really hate that, this woman who used to come up to the yard to clip horses off for the owner(and she had her horse up there) use to tie them up outside my box :mad: apparently her excuse why she did i is because there was light so she could see what she was doing to.
to Top it off the horse peed on the floor were my stable was:mad:

so guess who had to sweep up pee and clipped hair i nearly thre up which would made it ten times worse.

i moved boxs i thought yay she won't tie any horse up to my stable again but i was so very wrong
she tied her pony up to my stable door and i was just about to bring my horse at the time:mad: so i said to mum for ****sake she has tied her horse up to my door so i can't get her my one in !!!!

then she has the nerve to put her horse in my bed no bloody way the only horse thats allowed in there is my one :@

so i moved him over cause that really did piss me off.


then she realised it pissed me off and stopped doing it well ****** me it took her a while

Years ago I was on a diy yard with 3 different options.
1) stable, grazing, facilities.
2) grazing & facilities, including 5/6 tie rings on a first come, first served basis.
3) grazing only. Use of facilities for emergencies only. Eg could only come on yard for farrier or injury.
The amount of arguments I had with people from option 3 who would bring in the minute ym went home, & tie outside the stables. I watched what was almost a stand up fight once when one lady untied the horse outside hers & put it back in the field.
 
Having been on a few yards where there were fewer tie up places than stables e.g. some stables looked out onto a drive so they couldn't tied up outside, it doesn't bother me too much IF people clean up after themselves and their horses are good tempered.

It's at their own risk though, came round the corner one time to find a mare with her head right over the door. Closer examination revealed that frankie had hold of her headcollar and was keeping her there.
 
I once had a Welsh D stallion I kept on DIY livery. I was extremely cross one day to come round the corner to find one of the liveries had tied her mare up outside his door! She looked rather surprised that I was annoyed and it wasn't even as if she didn't know my boy was entire.

Last yard I was on had a very strict no tieing up on the yard policy which actually worked vey well. There were places where you could tie up but you wouldn't be in anyones way.
 
Ah yes it is extremely annoying!! I get very annoyed when my horse isn't in the stable but if either of them where in at the time a would be even worse!!
We don't have tie up rings so I normally don't tie my horses up outside. However there is baler twine on my doors mainly for good reasons one holds in my anti weave grill as my horse tends to pick it up with his nose!! Clearly very dangerous to him and anyone near by! ( he had to have this as he was on box rest and needed a full grill up) I have come up early a couple of times to find a horse tied to this!!
A) I was not impressed and very concerned for said horses safety wasn't sure they would appreciate an anti weave grill attached to them followed more than likely by reinforced door!!
B) if this had happened what the hell do I do after my long shift at work to find my horse no longer has a door to his stable or the anti weave grill !!
The other problem I've had is people using my stable !! I work alot and not usually there when everyone else is but still don't expect my stable to be used unless an absolute emergancy!
I have mucked out on many occasion only to come up and find the bed needing re mucking out!! I can't imagine putting my horse in someone's else's stable let alone a clean one and then not clearing up!!
 
And this is why I would never have DIY liveries!!!! In all honesty it's not the end of the world where you tie a horse up and all of you need to chill out a bit or replace your rabbits batteries!!! Soooo petty!
 
Ps annagain, you seem rational, you would be welcome on my yard! None of this terrotorial rubbish, only reason horse can't tie up outside another's box is if they are very grumpy or stallion and then it's common sense really.
 
I never realized this annoyed people so much! On my current yard people do tend to tie up on the ring nearest to their stable (though not every stable has a spot) but my two are in a small block off the main yard where there is nowhere to tie up. So if I didn't tie up outside someone else's stable then I'd never be able to do things like wash legs (hose pipe and tap are on main yard). I never leave them unsupervised on the main yard - I only leave them for a minute or two max while I go and get my tack/ brushes/ hoof pick etc - because the mare kicks and has been known to pull back and throw a major strop while tied up, but I do need to have them tied up on the main yard for certain things. And I'm afraid I have to tie up outside other peoples' stables to do this. I would move them straight away if asked, and I'm always careful to make sure people can pass the mare safely (the main reason she is never unsupervised). But I never realized people were so stringly against it :o
 
I get it all the time! People tie their horse up outside mine for farrier and leave all the mess outside! It frustrates me especially as there's other places they can tie up. I tie up outside my stable, and I use an equi-ping, as horse has been known to have incidents with baler twine. Recently a horse was tied up to it and it broke, left on the floor and went walkabouts, so couldn't tie my horse up until it was found (It was found in another pony's haynet), and have purchased another.
I can't tie my horse up outside when the horse is in next door, it worries the owner and she goes for mine (lunges over the door, ears back teeth out!), and mine ignores her, yet he's the problem.
 
I don't mind providing I'm a) not about so not in my way and b) they tidy up after themselves, thus none the wiser but yes I'd be miffed given your situation, thankfully nobody in their right mind would want to tie up outside Mackenzie's stable door unless they wanted there horses head biting off! lol
 
I know someone who got a hock in the eye as was in a stable putting a rug on someone's horse and someone else came back from a ride and tied her horse on a very long rope by that stable - the horse outside then lunged her head over the door at the horse inside just as the person was doing up the leg straps and the horse inside leaped backwards in her stable clonking the person in the face. Some horses appreciate their own space inside their stable without another horse sticking their head in and there's few horses on our yard that wouldn't go for a horse over the door if they were tied up outside - they're not all chummy with each other. Some are fine, others aren't.

Oh right, so you think only DIY liveries would do this then? I have news for you! This was someone who is on our yard as a FULL livery! Its comments like that that are completely unjustified, and gives DIY liveries a bad name!!!:mad::mad::mad:
