Other riders' health & safety choices: whose business?

..... i did wonder about this. its one thing for someone to choose not to wear a hat, but to do so while pregnant is what makes the difference to me, its no longer just yourself you are risking.

in response to the OP, id probably say something as politely as posisble, wait to be told to mind my own buisness and that would be fine, but maybe the person in question would be prompted to consider things.
Whilst I agree that not wearing a hat is silly, even if she was wearing a hat and appropriate footwear a fall could harm the baby.

i agree with you. what im trying to say is that imho its about minimising risks.

some people like me,try to minimise risk everytime I ride; hat, BP, safety stirrups, highviz - not just for my own sake, for my family's sake. Some people choose not to bother, that's their choice.

also many women choose to ride while pregnant, thats their choice also, but that is when i think the 'choice not to bother' i mentioned above goes out of the window and they have a responsibilty to minimise every risk possible. So yes, there is still a risk with falling, but there is less of a risk of a bad fall if you wear appropriate footwear and so wont get your foot stuck and dragged; and there is less risk of serious brain injury to the mother if she wears a hat.

Personally I dont care. I don't reply to newbie threads coz I'm antosocial (and I dont see them). I saw the picture and thought it looked like a nice horse. It's not like a hat is going to protect the bump anyway...

H&S appears to be the latest 'fad' on here. Makes a change from all the NH/Parelli is evil/best thing ever drivel I guess.
