As the weather was so lovely last Saturday we took Otto for a “special” walk, along the Wye River.
He had an absolutely fabulous time, was a very well behaved dog and was completely shattered by the time we turned to come home.
It's a lovely walk, I can highly recommend it for anyone in the locality! We started at Stowfield Viaduct and walked up the river to a pub at Goodrich called The Inn at Wye then back down the rive to the car. It took about 3 hours, including a stop at the pub (planned to have lunch, but timed it completely wrong

)
The Pub is completely dog friendly, they even have a water bowl and a jar of biscuits at the front door.
Unfortunately some of the walk is through an estate that requests you keep your dog on the lead, although some bright spark had smashed the sign up at the Stowfield end, so we didn't realise until we were at the other end of the estate

Had there been any sign of livestock on the fields I can assure you Otto would have been on his lead, but it was empty mowed medows all the way, plus we met a dog coming from the other direction off the lead, so didn't think anything of it!

Now for an overload of Otto pics

Are you sitting comfortably??

Sitting in the garden as it was such a nice day, but he was allowed in, despite the pub looking far too posh for such a scruffy mutt!!

In conclusion, it only takes 3 hours of mad, non-stop running before Otto is tired enough to walk
grin.gif
However by the time we got home, Otto was ready to go again!

Thanks for looking. Apologies for the complete and utter overload, I was going to put the pictures of lasts nights walk in too, but I think that might be a little too many

So I'll bore you with another post instead

Really lovely pictures

Do you think Otto would like to come and stay with me for the shooting season? - it will soon be upon us!!

Thank you! I'm sure you'd send him back after a week
blush.gif

I don't think he is ready to be unleashed on the shooting world just yet, he would be rather embarassing

Although I might see if my Parents mind me tagging along with them on one day with him securely on the lead!!
grin.gif

I don't quite know, I have never done it before today and it is highly unlikely to ever happen again.
Getting desperate to regain my level of fitness before B had his op!!!

What a great looking walk!

Henry and I have not done much running, it's quite good with him on the lead though as he comes over all Husky-like and makes me go much faster
grin.gif

Lovely pics of Otto, looks a great walk. I wouldn't dare have Evie off lead near a river, she would be in, and I am a bit paranoid about undercurrents living near the Severn (neurotic owner).
I sometimes do a bit of jogging with Buffy, who is nice and sedate but Saffy is a bit past it, and Evie would probably kill me
grin.gif

A couple I work for do Cani x with their collies, which involves cross country running with dogs. The dogs wear harnesses and are attached to a belt round handlers waist. I have visions of flying out behind like a kite if I tried that with the Evil one
tongue.gif

Any other dog and I would have been worried, especially as it the river was so swollen and there were canoes to lure him in, but Otto is so terrified of water (especially moving water with steep banks) he wasn't going anywhere near it!!
grin.gif

I think he would have been a cracking working dog if we had, had him from a pup. He is pretty good now,but if he hadn't had all those months of running riot he would have been super duper!

He still has his naughty moments though, today he shot off and ended up on the road
mad.gif
Luckily there were sheep on the road anyway so the traffic was stopped and even more luckily he ignored the sheep, but still

False advertising...there was more of the bloody scenery than otto

He is so gorgeous! (how dare you say the pub was too good for him! more the other way round!
smile.gif
) hehe

and jogging with dogs, hm.......... tried it twice, nearly died about 5 times in the 2 outings! (beau also has the quick jet infront of mums legs mid stride down to a tea!)

and the last pic is beautiful!:)

off to look at the other post!

I couldn't believe such a nice pub would let a stiny wet dog in there, especially as there was a wedding reception going on at the time!!
