Just because I am feeling smug with myself at finally conquering my painting demons and having a bash

This is my first painting in nearly 9 years and my first EVER of any kind of animal
grin.gif
and I'm actually quite pleased with it, so 'scuse the self-indulgent post and humour me

After I uploaded it as finished, I realised I have forgotten to touch up the ears though, they are supposed to look a bit hairier round the edges

Here is the same picture as a pencil sketch and also a different pencil sketch (all of my latest muse, the lovely Otto

)

(They don't look quite that rough in RL, I just have a pants camera

His ears look clipped they are so tidy in the painting

Unless of course you have him clipped...

Personally I like the second and third pics more, but that is simply because I generally like pencil drawings better than paintings, nothing to do with which picture is better

Hen will feel left out that you havent done any of him you know

I like the last one especially, I think it's the way he has his front paws- really reminds me of some of the photos you have posted

Not clipped, my Mum would kill me
tongue.gif
but for ease of doing the background around them, I had to smooth them out, was supposed to go back and finish them, but was so chuffed to have finished a painting, I got carried away

Hen is my next project I just need a good picture of him
grin.gif
I have actually done a few of him recently , but wasn't that pleased with them.

I prefer pencil to work with and I dislike my style of painting, but it'll never get the way I want it if I don't practise
