After 2 days of packing, a transit van, 4 car loads, and one trailer full; Henry, Otto, Digger the gerbil, OH and I made the 100 mile trip up to Leicestershire.
As we have no house to move into yet (it was either move up before it was ready or spend £500 on 2 weeks rent, and being a tight Scots girl I did the former :D) we are currently staying with my Parents and their motley collection of Cocker Spaniels.

Otto is a very stressy dog and takes seconds to worry his weight off as well as not eating, so I was rather concerned about the toll moving would take on him. Luckily he has settled as well as I could have hoped and has actually made a few huge leaps in his training!

Firstly, thanks to my Parent's huge garden (compared to my tiny square of dirt at the old house) Otto has now begun his retrieving training. The sight of his dummy is a rather exciting thing these days, so he is practising his steadiness.

Secondly, his stop whistle is coming on in leaps and bounds and more often than not he stops where he is ratehr than coming back to me first! :D

Thirdly, Otto SWIMS in the RIVER!!!!!!

Fourthly, Otto RETRIEVES from the RIVER after SWIMMING out to it!!!!!!

He is yet to retrieve anything from dry land whilst on a walk, but as the new house also has a big garden where we can continue his training I don't think it will be too long!

He has also taken a shine to jumping, and today spent 10 minutes running up to a fallen tree and hurdling it (said tree is at least 3ft high!). He also thought it was great fun to jump at the rest of the stump still sticking out the ground, push off it whilst turning and then run off again. We think he may have a career in Free Running beckoning :D :D

Part 2 follows when we finally get to move in :D

Yay Otto! Finally, back in a proper county!

Henry has been practicing his steadiness in the living room with the stuffed pheasant. He thinks it is the most boring game ever:D

Hehe good boy Otto, he sounds like he thinks this moving lark is rather good fun! I like the idea of him free running, I think there may be a pet food advert with his name on! :p :D
Tell him he's a nut job swimming in this weather! :)

Sounds like you've had a hectic time, glad Otto is taking it in his stride. Maybe he's decided he had better be a good boy or you might move on again without him.;)

Otto says there is a much more boring game, it's called being tied to a tree whilst the Tall ones make bang noises and the other dogs do retrieving (what little there is!) He says it's so boring that he has invented a new game to pass the time, it involves staring at the sky intently over the Tall ones shoulder until they are convinced there is something there and turn around! :D

PMSL - I can just imagine Otto doing that :D Poor you...outsmarted by a spangle! :p :D Can totally sympathise though, when they are staring THAT intently, you know there just has to be something there...or maybe not :o

Hehehe, I do love Otto, the crazy boy! Sounds like he is doing really well, all been worth it then :D

My Dad's eldest dog does it too, he just likes taking the mickey out of my Dad's lack of ability when it comes to shooting, even barn doors feel safe when he's around! :D

Ooooo that does mean you could kinda join in some of our walks :D you could meet the Loobieloo and I`d get to meet Otto :D

Hes turning into such a good boy isnt he

Well I am trying to work out how I can get to Holkham Beach the next time everyone meets up!

I wouldn't go as far as saying a good boy, for Otto perhaps, but compared to more normal dogs, he is still a little s***bag! :D :D He also likes to make sure that this good behaviour is only displayed when I'm alone, so everyone else thinks I'm making it up!

He just wants to make sure you don't leave him with all those superior Cockers at your Mum and Dads that and he doesn't want to be packed into a box like those books he was helping you with......;):D:D:D

Hmmm, superior Cockers, I'm not so sure about that one! :p They are teaching him all their naughty Cocker ways... honest.. Otto would never dream of running riot like that on his own... ;) :D

You better love him, he is heading back to NI with you after Burghley :p

My Mum has seen sense and decided against a Lab, she's having another Cocker  I told her that really, it was about time she had a proper Spaniel, but she was having none of it :D

Hen for the next trip to Holkham we can work out meeting up - you need to practically come past me so we could meet and then stick all the mutts in my smelly mutt transporter and go the last bit together. St Sweep can pass on all his his good behaviour tips to Otto.......:D:D:D

Should take oooooo maybe 2 or 3 seconds.......;):D:D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Easy - straight down the A47, Bob is your uncle and indeed, Fanny is your aunt:D

I wonder if that will get starred up despite being a perfecting allowable name which can be found in Dickens novels?

We really must decide when we are going to Holkham next - ideas please! I feel the need for a blast around the beach!

They will be fine :D:D- get yourself and the mutt to Peterburgle station or Oakham or Stamford and I will pick you up - he will be dry but stinky on the return journey!;):D:D:D

Would like to give you ideas of dates but can't really think straight due to awful tooth ache - am distracting myself while waiting for dentist.:(

Lol! Can you imagine Beastie's face if he turned up with me? :p:D
