Ok so i was helping a friend clip her horse who was really good last year and was fine to start with, then after about 5 mins went crackers...long story short i have broken my toe :( Now i wouldnt have done it if he had been an idiot to start with, so anyway she is going to get the vet out to sedate him. We think the sound of the clippers reminding him of when he had to be sedated for the dentist and the sound of the drill. Anyway, these things happen. Has anyone ever broken a toe and continued to ride? Its the one next to the little toe and is strapped up.

Would like to hear your stories!

awhh poor you :o

yes many times i have had broken toes and i have ridden with them but it is a bit uncomfortable take some pain killers before

last time i broke 3 toes because my idiot horse decided that he didnt want to have his bridle on and stamped his foot on to mine then i tried to push him off as well as a lot of shouted words that shall not be repeated and he put all his weight on to it then - was not a happy bunny :o

he then had his bridle put on with no problems at all :o

oh no...after all these years i have been stood on many times before but he literally lept and stomped on it :( I think i will lunge her this week and try and ride next weekend...hopefully it won't hurt as much by then. I have broken my wrist before and that didn't stop me riding :D

Sadly it’s an occupational hazard, I’m currently nursing two broken toes which are strapped up. I’ve not ridden much as I find it painful so when I have I’ve ridden the sane ones without stirrups. With stirrups I have to push my foot right through as keeping it on the ball of my foot hurts too much – I have been lunging ok, I just make sure I keep my weight on my heel all the time rather than the middle to front of my foot.

I've broken both my little toes (separate incidents) and I feel your pain. Just strap them together and try and take it easy with them over the next few days. I just managed to hobble about sorting the horses back in July when I broke the last one and had about 5 days out the saddle. Hope you are on the mend soon!

Yes had two toes broken, the following weekend was competiting in a XC event , was trying to mount my horse who was super excited and she went and stomped on my two broken toes, I tell you now no word of a lie it felt like a hot poker had been rammed through my foot...!!! Anyhow still got on and done the XC but holy smokes it was a painful round and when it finished I took five mins to get off as knew when I jumped off and hit the floor it was going to hurt like a .......!

Oh god yes, I must have broken both my little toes in excess of 50 times each. I do wear steel toe caps, but I have odd shaped feet and the little toe sits just behind the toe cap!

I last broke one four weeks (ish) ago, looked like this within a couple of hours...

(yes I do have very ugly feet!) but it's not stopped me doing anything. I was poopicking straight after it happened!
