As title says......
When you own an 18 hander, one of the most commonly asked questions is "What is it like falling off that??"
To which my reply is always the same "Falling off is not an option"
Well yesterday i has the misfortune to find out, and the only word that comes to mind is "OUCH"
It was complete rider error, and my dear lad didn't know what to do. We were going through a narrow gate on the trail, to cross the main road, and rejoin trail on the other side.
I leant forward to push gate open a little wider, which is quite a way to bend down
, he carried on walking, trapping the gate between him and my leg. It started to close, wedging us both. He grunted so i knew he had hurt himself somewhere. He couldn't go forwards, i was still hanging from him trying to unhinge my leg.
He went backwards, and out the side door i went
After being in the air for what seemed like forever, i hit the deck landing on my knee, then hip, he panicked, and all i could think was don't let go.....
Resulting in me being dragged several yards on my bum and back.
He calmed down and stood looking very bewildered. I checked him out, no visible injury. Dusted myself off and shakily climbed back on board, and finished our circuit.
Went home had a bath and checked myself. Gravel rash on hip, thigh and bum cheek
, and a skinned knee.
This morning i felt like i had been hit by a bus. My knee is all the colours of the rainbow
. And the muscles across my back, and one arm are battering, from holding on to mad beast as it tried to run for home
.
The best bit was there was a car going past as i was sailing through the air, i thought oh no how embarrasing, i bet they stop, to see if i'm ok..... Did they heck, thanks guys
Went for a steady hack today, just to keep my confidence up, as after losing it big time i don't want to risk it again
Anyway pointless post, but could do with a hug
