Don't you just love smart horses? Being branded must be a heck of a painful thing. Perhaps the horse thought he was going to be killed. The cowboy got what he deserved IMHO.

My boy is freezemarked. Not ideal, but better than hot branding anyway.

That was a natural reaction from the horse.
I would do the same if being touched with a red hot metal!!
