I woke up this morning to find my ankle (the one I broke) badly swollen and bruised, couldn't really work out why, other than a long day yesterday, but then it clicked, it is just where my spurs sit, and they obviously press on the plate and screws holding my leg together. I rode Jerry for the whole event yesterday in my impulse spurs and really noticed the difference (esp in the dressage) so don't want to no use them, my trainer also wants me to use them more when schooling him to help with the canter transitions. I had real difficulty actually getting my boots on this morning though

Sorry, random moan, but anyone else broke their ankle and had issues with the screws rubbing? What did you do? Did it just toughen up?

My sister uses high impact foam sticky pad thingys (very technical, huh?

She had an extrenal frame on for 9 months and the pin sites get rubbed badly just by her boots. I dont know where she gets them from but they are fab.

I have issues with the spurs rubbing me and i haven't had a broken ankle. Only wear them when you are on the horse, not walking around, I found that made a difference. The other thing you could do is buy a pair of those new Nike boots with the screw in stud in the heel.

Those rubber spur thingys?? The ones designed to protect your boots? They might make them tighter and rub more though!
I had this problem, not got any screws but pony landed on my ankle twice and busted everything there is to bust except the bone (tough bones, me!). I get random days of pain and anything the sits around my ankle causes more pain. I found wearing mens spurs really helped.
Other than that, toughen up women!!!

I think the rubber bits would just make them tighter and there fore more painful, although they arnt particularly tight at the moment. Maybe my ankle swelled up during the day and then they started rubbing
