2 years ago, I popped the ligament in my left ankle, the bruise and swelling was something to be proud of.....!

Took ages to go down, and when I started riding again, it had to be strapped up....

Last winter it gave me a bit of grief when the weather was damp and horrid, but if I kept it nice and warm whilst riding, it seemed to make it bearable...

Not sure what I did tonight, but it's giving me hell....! :'(

I did go dashing down and managed to get 2 horses 20 mins in each trotting round the school (free schooling, not lunging) maybe I did something without reasling as was trying beat the rain showers....

Hope it's not gonna be about for a bit, I have a Trec event a week on Friday...

~sigh~

Did you have it x-rayed/scanned when you originally injured it?

My sister had something similar and only found out she had actually broken a piece of her ankle bone off about 2 years after she had broken it! She had been told it was ligament damage and treated it as such.

Yes, it was X-rayed and there were no broken bits...

I think TBH, I went a bit slack on the exercises I had to do, and went riding far too soon, but when you have fit horses needing exercise, what do you do??

I certainly can't wear heels anymore, as I kept going over on them, no strength there at all....

Ah well, I did it at the field, and my mare helped me crawl through the mud to the gate when I did it, so I guess I can view it as a worthy battlescar....

I wonder if it's too late to start with a few exercises now...and keep it up?

It's definitely not too late, I have similar damage to the ligament in my knee and find doing a few exercises in the morning or before I ride makes such a difference.

Good luck with the Trec, I really need to get my boy fit and do some more...
