Had a painful fall today from the pony, entirely my fault, nothing to do with him, I got on him in a bareback pad, and accidentily kicked his rump as I swung my leg over, he took off and yeah... I fell underneath him and his foot went down on my back <_< very painful. I now have an attractive red hoof mark and am in quite a bit of pain. But there we go, tis a risky sport/hobby! Though i'm definatly going to get a body protector now, I appreciate this could have been FAR worse.

Any tips on pain relief hehe, should I be reaching for the hot water bottle or frozen peas?

EDIT btw I did get back on afterwards, this time in a saddle, I am a strong believer in getting back on when you fall off :)

i am holding you personally responsible if i have any accidents :D
why do i feel drawn to these things when i am on the look out for a new horse? sometimes i should give myself a shake! :)
anyways i hope you are not too sore and yes i agree get a body protector - i have one lol but i would rather wear it than not and well done for getting back on xxxx

ouch, that sounds painful, i'd try a long soak in a warm bath always helps me when i've got backache - hope you feel better in the morning x

Yeah warm bath sounds a plan actually, though I know it's gunna be far worse in the morning, these sorts of things always are. I'm just thankful me legs are working!

if it still hurts in a couple of days or gets sudenly worse get it checked out. please dont leave it and think it will be ok - ive done that too many times and now have long term problems from riding accidents (and considering ive only ever fallen off a handful of times thats not great!)

Oh dear, hope your feeling better tomorrow,
totally sympathise, I have had a couple of very painful falls, and feel like I never want to ride again, so well done for getting back on X

Just had me bath, not too much pain in the water so i'm thinking a hot water bottle and some tea will be in store tonight, some how I can't see me going into college tommrow with a rucksack on my back! MIGHT go and see a DR tommorow, but I'm quite happy I can move everything and everywhere has circulation, no problems with my kidneys as pee is all fine, so i'm putting it down to very sore muscles! But if it persists past the end of the week I'll go to the hospital. I've had similar injury before, fell down concrete stairs, hitting my vertebrae on the edges on the way down, bloody painful! Couldn't bend down or anything. Ironic thing was I'd just come from the hospital

Ooo pain nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, still VERY stiff and not too great at moving but I thought it'd be agony. Took the day off college, too embarassing to hobble in the room like some old woman. Got a body protector brand new from eBay, for about 45£ inc postage, Harry hall one. I tell you they've come on a long way since I was little, I remember a Harry Hall level 3 one I had that had velcro flaps, and they used to come un done, now they have a reinforcement strap over the top to prevent this, nice! *thumbs up* Still love the pony though hehe, not his fault, think I'll have to take him for grass today to get over the trauma :P

If you can get hold of Diclofenac, that works really well with paracetamol for pain (very important to read the label of both medications!).
But if you are still sore, might be worth seeing a doc. I came off the mare at a flat out gallop and she stood on me. I was in pain, but ok, but my OH who is a doc made sure I was checked out anyway. Turns out I cracked a rib - cue pain when laughing, coughing, lifting, breathing, sneezing, bending, stretching...

**** no way! Even though it stood on your back you'd cracked a rib??? Where it mainly hurts (and where it's mainly red!) is on the left hand side of my lower back so I'm think that's too low for the ribs, I've had no problems with any kidney related functions thankfully, though my friend did make me feel better saying "Oh don't worry you can live with one kidney anyway!" I was like "Oh yeah, great, thanks for that!" If it persists past this week, will go and see a dr, but I'm hoping I'm just bruised!

Yeah, the human body is remarkably resilient! Same mare touched the electric fence with her nose by mistake one afternoon, leapt back, landed on my foot (I had TRAINERS on!), spun on the spot and p*ssed off up the field. OH and I thought foot was broken for sure. Nope, deep bruising and swelling, but nothing more serious than that.
Anyway, back to you: yes, keep an eye open for blood in the wee and that sort of thing, but hopefully you have escaped this one!

Arnica cream and "tablets" from Boots' homeopathic shelf. Brilliant stuff for bruising.

I don't suppose Arnica cream works for "womens pain" as well does it? ;) Suffering that as well, so double the back ache, and some stomach ache grr, it's also a bit...heavier than usual, I don't suppose this is related to the fall?

Frozen peas - that's what my chiropractor advised after I fell off on Tuesday night.

Fell off again this morning, but was wearing BP this time. Think I was more upset today than on Tuesday when I actually did some damage! I know there's no logic in that...

Haha don't worry, I always cry even if I don't hurt myself! I just fall off, roll over get back up then start crying X) I think it's the shock lol :P But I did cry quite abit the other day cause I couldn't move and thought I'd paralysed myself which would piss mum off cause she'd have to trapse up to A&E!

ouchie! indeed! that sounds bad, has the mark gone yet? a hot bath and painkillers always does the job for me. i fell off my 17hh horse 2 days ago jumping, went flying into the arena fence at some speed back first and really hurt my back, annoyingly ended up squirming on the floor screaming like something out a horror film thinking i'd broke my back; i had never felt a pain like it, totally embarassing XD. anyway i ended up being trollied off in an ambulance, no bones broken but a whopper of a mark, just wish i had a BP on, ive been looking to buy one...ive learnt my lesson!
