Just a small report from April's first ever indoor SJ show with me

. It's not much really but was good for us

We jump quite big at home and on lessons but rarely get to shows and haven't jumped a full round of jumps since Oct last year lol so just went in for the Intermediate which was 70cms.
This was our 2nd ever SJ class as so far we have mostly done combined training, lessons and a mini ODE

Thought her brain was going to explode when we got there as she was so overwhelmed by all the people, the music, the loudspeaker and the plants etc etc. Was like sitting on a rocket in the warmup. Lovely to give her some excitement in her old age (22)

Anyway we did a warm up and she goggled at everything in the arena and had a few refusals. I really thought it was going to be a bad day!

Then took her in and we got over our nerves. She had a real good look at No. 2 but I got her over and then she just flew the rest and got a clear!!

Realised we had got into our first ever jumpoff, woo hoo!!!

She was so up for it and flew round and I just decided to go as fast as possible and have fun. She had a run out sadly but I am so proud of her anyway.

Have attached a vid, it's not the best quality but can't complain. Was a lovely little course for our first attempt. The bogey fence was the pale blue one in the right hand corner. They put a water tray under it so must get practicing that at home!!

Thanks for reading! Would love to know what you think of our efforts if you can make it out xx

April's Round!

Thanks xx
God yeah I was feeling physically sick with nerves! Both of us were suffering but it's fun once you get started lol

Well done, it looked well easy on the vid. Where are u? HUGE arena with loads of fences, I woulda got lost!!!

its a place called ingliston in scotland. Its very swish and has a seated gallery, a counter that hangs in the middle of the arena, sound system, a restraunt and bar etc etc! They were so nice and friendly though so will def be going back. There are hundreds of jumps aren't there! They put 2 of each double in - one with pony strides and one with horse strides and they also take jump in and out of each class. Theres even a wishing well at one end! April and i nearly had joint heart attacks when we saw it all but we had a great day xx

It's the nicest place I have ever ridden anyway! Normally at the small shows I go to and with our lovely Scottish climate we are trudging around in the bog... even in May lol.

The one embarrasing habit I seem to have picked up is that I talk to April the whole way round

If I growl at her when she starts to back off the jump it helps her refusals so then i have to praise her when she does it well too LOL. I'm like "good girl, thats it. WELL done April!" like some sort of muppet.
Ah well it makes me keep breathing too i guess. My friends say you can't hear it lol

How lovely of them to do pony and horse stride doubles

i know! It's very thoughtful especially for us adults on 14.2's.
Because I am very much older than 18 I am always in the horse class so it's nice that we don't have to stick in 2 strides or a huge leap to make them
