We're both fine back up and doing XC again. She didnt show the slightest sign of pain, she was practically trotting back to her stable and being her general cheeky self, on the other hand I was quite sore!
I watched it as soon as I got her back to the stable block, I was almost crying thinking of her poor back, until she bit me on the arse for not giving her her tea fast enough :LL Cheeky moo!
She wasnt bothered about it at all, I think I could take her up to it again right now and she would jump it, i think its just me :S
I actually really hate wearing BPs, I've fallen off more times because of the amount they actually restrict your movement, I even struggle to fold properly because of them. However, I do hunt in one and compete XC in one but i'd rather not wear one at home.
As to BPs, hate mine with a passion, sweat like a loon when I'm wearing my Mountain Horse jacket (the one with body armour) when riding in the summer. But, come off twice this year and both times the gear I was wearing saved me from serious (or rather, more serious) damage.
Find a BP that fits you properly so you can move in it. Daughter wears an Exo cage and one would think that would restrict, but she leaps on and off neds, jumps decent heights and combinations, and generally does everything in it that she'd do if she didn't have one on
. I hate my BP with a passion, but once on (well, after the first few minutes lol), I don't notice it.
No body protector and also from what I can see, a peaked hat too?
My pet hate has I fell off XC wearing a peaked hat and landed on my head, luckily I was ok but I always ride in a skull hat now for any jumping/hacking/hunting.

You need to get a body protector that fits then. It's dangerous to wear one that impede's your ability to move with the horse and if yours does then it must be too long or to small. I wear my BP whenever I get in the saddle, it's saved me a fair few broken rib if not more!
Gosh you were lucky, i had a very bad xc accident 15years ago and if i hadnt had a back protector on i would have been seriously injured. The horse stood on me and smashed by leg up in. I would also be thinking of getting the horse looked over by a back person/vet too after a nasty fall like that.
Shes been checked by physio, 100% fine. And my BP does fit, had it fitted by woman that runs the local tack shop (she the type of person that if she hasnt got a qualification, than it isnt worth having! She has that many qualifications for every thing!) Its just extremely stiff, has no bend in it at all. Have thought of getting a racesafe BP but have been told there no good???
