Our favourite Natural Horsemanship brand!

and is the Whittaker brand not overpriced? My point is that people will pay as much as they want to for stuff, whatever brand and the manufactures will price it as high as they think they can get away with. Lets face it what somebody would pay £100.00, be it Whittaker, Todd or Parelli, another person wouldn't pay peanuts for! As I said before. Parelli is not the only over priced equipment on the market.

I'm sure many of the brands are overpriced. I'm not really a brand person so it doesn't bother me! My feelings about certain NH people is their attitude that you have to have their branded tack to be able to do it properly.

Oh no an ordinary loose ring snaffle bridle won't do, you have to have a branded one. What started out as a genuine wish to help people do better with their horses has turned into a marketing machine! You can't have any old 12' rope it has to be a certain type. I think that's what is at the root of much of the anti NH feeling on here.

BTW, I only posted this as a joke! Just to prove that there must be some serious mugs in the world.

so everybody hates parelli because a hat costs £25 on e-bay

Something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.
that's business. If you don't want to spend that money on a hat, then don't.
Same with the Katie Price stuff, loads of people slag it off and say they wouldn't pay the money for it. I still see lots of the jackets etc around the shows.
Horses for courses eh

Oh no no

People hate Parelli for lots and lots of reasons unrelated to overpriced merchandise.
My personal favourite was the left-handed lungeline

You have to give it to the Parelli machine for the marketing though they really have gone for it!!! It's just a shame they target the novice/no common sense people that really should not be trying to train a horse or even own one in most cases - just annoys me that it is always the horses that suffer!
Did you see the demo where they are loading a ridden horse onto a moving trailer - you can just see the disasters waiting to happen with that one!!!
I'm sure I'm going to get a load of parelli fans arguing back - where's the smiley that shakes a rope in your face or the one with a stick - sorry carrot stick - to poke people with to keep them away!!!!

I agree with blackhorses to an extent. I do agree that these novice riders shouldn't be given access to parelli, however, i don't think they targetted them, i think that these are the people who have seen this as a way to fix unsuitable horse purchases. I agree that in those instances it is the horse that ends up with the problem. These people will buy the horse regardless though and probably have some sort of disaster, be it parelli or some other method.

Parelli have marketed their product very well, you can't fault them for that.

quiote 'Oh no an ordinary loose ring snaffle bridle won't do, you have to have a branded one.'

This statement could apply to anything. Oh no an ordinary leather saddle won't do, it has to be a stubben or a wow or whatever, we all know lots of people like that.

Like i said earlier, my horse was put right with a mix of parelli and common sense. No doubt there was other methods that could have been used with equal success. I bought a totally unsuitable horse but that was 6 years ago and I now have a lovely sane, normal horse. So there are happy endings. That's her in my sggy. I am not some kind of idiot waving any sort of stick or rope around.

I have nothing against Parelli's methods or any kind of natural horsemanship. In fact I did a bit of Parelli/NH with my own horse when I first got him, he was very nervous, and it has worked a treat.

It's the rampant commercialism they have turned to that I dislike! Yes there are other stars who have equally overpriced merchandise, but I have never heard John Whitaker say, oh you must have MY branded brushing boots to be able to jump. And as for Katie Price, well that could be a whole new rant!
