The day started as the alarm clock went off at 3.30am.
Ed has a slight shiver and is better if he has a couple of hours in the field to stretch before a comp. Turned him out at 5am after feeding entire yard tehn in to work to make sure all systems are working properly (IT manager).
Back to the yard at 6.15am, load up and set off at 7am
Arrive at 8.10 to a deserted car park. got him in the warm up before anyone arrived. A bit spooky going in but bless him he never attempted to say no. Warmed up well and went clear in the 85cm despite almost missing a fence and realising as i was abou 5 feet from passing it and had to stop and jump from a very silly angle. We ended up 5th which surprised me as we just hacked round. The intention being to give him a no stress introduction to indoor SJ.
Then we waited and waited and waited.
Warm up for the 1mtr was great. he knew why he was there now and was really up for it. Flying even the stupidly high warm up fences like they were twigs.
Fence 1 fine, fence 2 he just never took off with his back legs (very unlike him) so 4 faults there. It looks from the video that he was gawping at something in the seating area.
Rest of the course was super including the tight 180 cut inside to oxer in the timmed section. Just clipped the planks on a related (rider error) which I got a bo*&^king from my pupil for but still very pleased with him.
Then more waiting and waiting. Eventually got to jump the 1.10 at 6.40pm. By that time he had had enough and I had lost the will to live (remember what time we started the day).
He stopped twice in the warm up due totally to rider faffing about and burying him in the fence although he wasn;t exactly helping me out either. Should have withdrawn then but no I gave ot a go. Fence 1 sticky, fence 2 rolled a pole, fence 3 crashed and fence 4 we pretty much went straight through. At this point I came to my senses and decided both of us (mainly me) shouldn't be in there and retired.
All in all though still pleased with the day. The 1.10 was purely old age on the riders part catching up.
One of my pupils was there. She won the 1.00 open was 14th in disco with her green eventer and got the same horse round the newcommers with just a couple of poles.
Obviously I am now far better suited to training than riding. Perhaps I should hand the ride over to her and just focus on training them both. Yeah like thats ever gonna happen

Finally got back to yard at 8.15pm and home at just gone 9.
At least next time I wont have to get there so early now he's happy indoors.
Today I am mostly knackerd

I don't know your full story lisseygan, but i'm detecting a break (at least from competing) and a return to the ring

Sounds like you and the horse could do with a few more outings around the 1m mark before you try another 1.10m, but at least you had the sense to pull him out
smile.gif

Well done on the 85cm though....how many classes did you jump again
tongue.gif

You have more staying power than I have
shocked.gif

WOW what a day you had! good and bad! well done in the 85 and 1m class - tbh I think I would have lost the will to live by the time the 1.10m came round

Well done to your pupil tho
smile.gif
thats fantastic!! I think you should help me when i go on the 14th
wink.gif

Do you have a quiet weekend now? or is OH doing dressage??

When are you out next?

Im doing the CR on the 13th and then there on the 14th doing 85cm and BN on snoop and BN and Dico on Winston.

Rambo - tis true I havn't played BSJA since 96 but was eventing until october. Ed is grade B. Both of us are happy pooping 1.30 but he does need me to be on the ball and ride him forwards. I was just tooi knackered and switched off yesterday going in to the 1.10. 4 hours earlier it would have been fine.

BB. sadly not a relaxing weekend. Taking OH to to Weston lawns on saturday and Solihull on sunday. She needs to get second part of qualification for winter semi's at medium.
Monday I think I will just stay in bed all day.

I should be at addington next thursday / friday then again on 9th 10th and 14th.

Just saw that 9-10 a weekend - may go and take snoop to that and do the smaller class there
smile.gif
however, depends i guess! plus not aiming to do anything after the first two classes due to huge entries YAWN

Ahh stay in bed Monday - very wise lol if only...... I have 5 horses to look after now until a week on Monday
frown.gif
plus work - gahh!!

Perhaps I will see you the 9th and 14th then
smile.gif

Good luck to your OH
smile.gif
let us know how she goes please!

Vx

Ah...okay...I understand now

I know exactly how you feel about staying on the ball too. When I got a second horse to compete I found myself switching off by the time it came to jump my 4th class of the day. How do these people cope who ride 2 or 3 horses in EVERY class though

Wow, what a long day!!

Slightly going off the idea of Addington if that is normal (we were planning to go on the 14th too).

Think I will be giving up and going home if there are 80 in a class - perhaps won't enter the Disco until we know how long the BN is likley to go on!!

Can I give you a gold star for being there ALL day! Gosh I am impressed, I wouldnt have bothered staying for the 1-10m, I would have been sat in a corner somewhere gently swaying back and forth
tongue.gif

If I have sold Chico I will see you there on one of those dates for the Disco and NC if all goes well

Do you swear on your great-granny's grave you will go on the 14th?! William should be jumping fit then so that can be his first outing, will bring Liberty too - he dropped me over his shoulder again today! Was slouching along smoking so my fault for not staying with him - far too concerned about holding on to my fag

Lisseygan - you are INSANE! I suppose at least you had a pupil there to watch, otherwise the tedium must have been unbearable. The entries sound par for what I've seen of Addington so far.

I have telephoned suzy to make her book the 14th off and as yet havent asked for the time off - howver, i am 99% sure we will be going
smile.gif
as long as the clear round goes well the evening previous!

OMG Liberty dropped you
shocked.gif
eek! FFS will you get some stickability for sunday please! I want you nannying me not the other way round
