We had our first day out on Saturday.
Popped round an 85, gaining 8 faults and lots of learning. Harry tried his heart out despite my nerves (last time I was at a show was in 1995). Pleasingly, the two things I was worried about; forgetting the course and turning a horse his size in a small arena went perfectly. The thing that got in our way was my nerves, causing my elbows to seize up, so I never let him have a proper go at the fences.
What a buzz though.
Can't wait till next time, which is only 3 weeks and plenty of practice away :)

Awwww, well done! Harry looks like a lovely boy. I'm sure the nerves will get better with practise. Although I've never managed to test that theory myself and compete so infrequently that I'm a nervous wreck every single time! 😂

“Can’t wait till next time” is the best way to come home from a competition.

i once asked if I could go round again in a very low level SJ competition. I had been so nervous I hadn’t stated to enjoy it until 3/4 of the way round. Sadly, they wouldn’t let me have another go.
on the other hand I have never asked if I can re-ride a dressage test because it was such fun!
