Frodo and I went back to Hunters Equestrian today for our 3rd competition - still just doing walk and trot tests, unfortunately canter is still far too exciting for my ex-racing pony! He has been doing some lovely work at home (by his standards) and my instructor has commented how much he has improved after 4 lessons, so today's aim was to replicate that nice feeling in ONE movement per test.
The first test was indoors and I was really, really pleased - his best test to date, and although there is still a huge amount to improve on I was delighted with him, we even scored a couple of 7s
We came 4th out of 7, and got our first 'proper' placing after our 'fake' first place last time out
But oh dear, the second test was just awful - I thought he was bad last time out, he was truly appalling today and spent most of his test jogging with his hindquarters stuck into the centre of the arena
He was so busy gawping at the other horses in the warm-up he didn't listen to me at all, I was gutted - you win some you lose some I guess!
So a learning experience, it is all mileage under our belt and I know that the more we compete the less exciting it will be. A little pic of us in the warm up:
