Our foal has arrived...

After a long and anxious wait our foal arrived last night, a filly. Here are a few pics. Will have the vet back to check them out today, we are all tired.

no name yet ... I can see that I will have trouble with the kids deciding and agreeing.

The birth went well, but mum was not keen on foal suckling, and yes it has been a long night. Born about 11pm, we got to bed about 2.30am, and then had to check every hour till 6am when I just decided to stay up. Kids still exhausted.

Vet did come to check things out, but want to make sure mum is ok as well. She is a maiden mare (or was). Am calling vet re check up now.

Dad is friesan-warmblood mum is 1/4 freisan-1/2 riding pony-1/4 aust stock horse so a bit of a mix. thIs is dad's second foal and mums first

Have thought about using a camelot name, not a bad suggestion.

Need an every day name as well, oldest son insists he has naming rights, but have not heard even one suggestion from him yet, although he does not like any of mine

She should earn one soon, she sure has a personality, was sucking on mums leg before she was fully delivered, and squealing at mum when just delivered, has a favourite itchy spot, and lots of attitude
