Our little trip out...

I took my boy for a little trip out on his own yesterday to see how he would go! Well it went pretty amazing, we had a little hiccup with two push bikes! He freaked out a little, until i calmed him down, then he choose to walk on past them himself! I was a very proud owner.

Carried on for a bit further, walked him through the river a few times and back home. I thought I was going to have some trouble separating him from my mare but he didn't even look back!!

Well done on walking him out on hand to show him new things. I had a Friesian youngster a few year back and we would go for miles inhand . It's the most fantastic way of getting to know/trust each other.
 
He sees quite a bit because we move them to the summer fields by hand, but I just want him to get as much experience as he can with me on the ground with him as he seems to look to me first. But when we had the upset with the push bikes, he freaked out a little bit and pulled against the lead rope, but he soon chilled out and actually walked forward towards the bikes even without my encouragement.

Next week i'm planning on going a bit further up the road to a local pub, maybe sit outside for a while. The only thing i'm worried about is there tends to be a few scramblers around.

When we are in the yard he tends to follow me everywhere and is always so interested in whatever i'm doing, i'm trying to establish a good bond before I start hacking him out. (Hes already mouthed/backed)
