Our new pup to be...

This weekend my partner and I chose our new puppy. He is only 5 weeks old at the moment so will be picking him up in approximately three weeks time.

He is a Bernese Mountain Dog with good blood lines, the sire being given Champion status at this years Paignton Show. I have looked through his parents/grand parents/great grand parents and all have good health scores, particularly hip and elbow scores.

We are quite excited as this will be our first full BMD, my previous dog was a Bernese x Border Collie who was an excellent dog who sadly passed away earlier this year. I have never shown dogs before so will be interested to have a go!

We chose the breed after finding out what our previous dog was crossed with and it went from there really. I fell in love with them!

Not common puppies, had to wait quite a while for a litter to be born and find a reputable breeder but for the money they cost you have to make sure you get a good one! Elbow scores of 0 for the parents/grand parents and hip scores of approx 8 - 18 (out of 106) bodes us well. We will have to wait until he is 12 months old before we can get ours health scored. Looking forward to picking him up and bringing him home, will definitely get more pictures and post them as the rate of growth is amazing!
