:( Nothing can be said about how bad this is.

However, he is just lovely, bright eyed, curious, amazingly sound and really sweet. :)

He's been kept living in his own filth and I can not describe the smell of him when we picked him up yesterday. My sister and I had gone to look at an unbacked horse and took the horse box cause, well, how much point is there doing 2 visits to one of those! However, knowing how things are not always as they seem, we'd booked into see this little chap who was in the area as we know someone looking for him as described in his advert.

Well, we could NOT leave him.

We've spent the day hot towelling to try and clean him up, sorting out the matted hair, clipping where his skin was just horrible underneath (since they'd started anyway ), combing baby oil out of his mane, washed the stink out of his tail. Begged some rugs that will fit him (we have rugs to fit a 14.2hh cob which is what we were going to look at, but not one like this :() and turned him out this evening in the field next to our boys, but not in with them so he can just eat. God knows when he was last out, we can't bring ourselves to keep him in when he's been standing in so long.

And we have the best farrier in the world who can out on a Sunday to fix up his feet. :D

No words at all. :(

thats awful. my boy came in a state to me he is slowly putting on weight. and his spirit is coming back. i dont no why people treat them this way. or how they can look at them knowing they are suffering. im glad you have rehomed him and he will be well looked after. i expect he thinks hes dreaming at the moment woundering when he will wake up. poor man. good ending if ya ask me. keep us posted

OMG!!!! How awful Thank god you found him. What is wrong with people just don't have horses if you can't afford them. Make sure you keep us updated:)

well done for picking him up he has such an adorable loveable face and eyes that would melt ice!!

Hope he continues now to fill out and be happy and stretch them little legs poor lil fella

We bought him as 13 - he could be but his teeth could make him younger, certainly not older.

We honestly didn't realise quite how bad he was until we got him home, the minute they walked him out we looked at each other and knew we were taking him home cause of his weight and the rest didn't really matter. We knocked the price down cause of it (yes, we paid for him) shoved him on the truck and left.

We left another horse there, (not for sale, we did ask and we'd have had him as well), we've done what needed to be done regarding that. ;)

Bless him. The state of his poor frogs  I can believe he's been standing in his own filth from looking at them. :(

Good on you for bringing him home. Poor little soul. He must think he's died and gone to heaven. Keep us updated won't you. I'd love to see photos of him looking much, much better (which I'm sure he will soon under your watchful eye) :)

Thank god for people like you, the poor little mite looks so sad (and extremely cute with all his frizzy hair) how is he this evening? Whats his name? Did the scumbags explain how they let him get in this state?

Poor pony although looks like he's get all the care and TLC he needs now :)

What excuse did the previous owners give for letting him get in this state?:(

there are 1000's like him

i dont think you've rescused him tbh just lined the pocket of the arse-wipe you bought him from

well i am pretty sure the wee fella feels like he has been rescued. what were they to do, leave him in that state because they had to pay for him? Doesn't matter what you call it, he is out of a horrible situation and into a place where he won't stand in his own crap, have his stinking uncared for feet sorted out and be given a good feed! Of course there are 1000's like him but she can't get them all. Maybe saving one won't make a difference in the grand scale of things, but it made a difference to that one.

Sounds like he has landed on his feet, looking forward to seeing pics in a few weeks to see how much he has changed. Bet he turns out a great wee pony.
Pity you couldn't get the other one. Was it in the same sort of state?

We all know there are 1000's more like him but I agree you can't just walk away. Plus OP has informed the relevant people as she puts it so we hope and pray something can be done for the remaining pony.

He will be loved and well cared for now and that for him is a happy ending. I would have done the same thing.

Good luck with the furry little fella and looking forwards to seeing him thrive.

He looks very kind, good luck with him and well done for doing the right thing, there may be thousands like him but you've helped one of them. I expect he feels like the cat that got the cream!

Well done. He will be fab. I rescued a poor mare in Egypt 6 days ago in an appalling state. Broken eye socket, wounds, and emaciation. I gave the charity Continental Horse Rescue the money to rescue her from her cruel owner, and I am paying for her full livery costs via donations from friends and family. Her name is Sheba and she is the little bay mare in the pictures on their FB page. You cant rescue them all but what a difference it makes to the ones you can :)

Yes there are thousands like him in need

now there is one less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Well done OP post some pics of once farrier been and he has a little meat on him :):)

I hate to say it, but unless the other one is in a much worse state, the relevent people won't be able to do anything, and wouldn't have done anything about the one you did rescue. Sad but true, they often look much worse than that before they get out. At least your new boy can lead a good life now though!
